Limestone County Commissioners meet
      The Limestone County Commissioners Court met on Monday, February 22, with Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen presiding. Commissioners Pete Kirven, Morris Beaver and Milton Carroll were all present with Commissioner John McCarver being absent. The Court approved the minutes of the previous meeting and the payment of the bills.

      The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce will meet on Thursday, March 11, at 12 noon in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck. A meal will be served. All Chamber members, officers, directors and the general public are invited.

Harry Heads For Halifax
      Thanks to the Internet and the determined spirit of his new owner, Harry, the Bearded Collie/ Schnauzer mix who had been a ward of LARAS’ House three different times headed to his new home in Halifax, Nova Scotia Monday morning. Driving him the 2280 mile trip is Jennifer Holmes who picked him out of over 1000 dogs from the Internet in December to be her second ever pet.

New Library Hours Announced
      As of Monday of this week, Groesbeck's Maffett Memorial Library began new hours. The new library hours are Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stroke and osteoporosis screening coming to Groesbeck
      Residents living in and around the Groesbeck community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. The Civic Center will host Life Line Screening on March 16th at 105 E. Navasota. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.

Limestone County Democrats hold Feb. meeting
      County Democrats and visitors met on February 16, in Groesbeck. Joe Phillips called the meeting to order followed by the pledge to the U.S. flag and prayer by Morris Beaver. Minutes from the January meeting were given by Billy Waldrop. One correction- our speaker, Mrs. Pevehouse of Navarro County was introduced by Bill Bond.

Texas Business owner sentenced to jail for false organic marketing
      Austin- Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced recently that a Texas Department of Agriculture inspection has resulted in a prison sentence for Basilio Coronado. The Brownfield company owner was sentenced to 24 months in a federal prison for falsely portraying his company’s produce as organic.
