Run for the health of it
      Central Texans of all ages will help fight cancer on March 27 by taking part in Limestone Medical Center’s Run for the Health of It. The event, which began last year, benefits the hospital’s Relay for Life team and the American Cancer Society. People can participate in a 5K run or a 1-mile walk, said Cody Campbell, LMC’s marketing director.

Goat baseball season underway
      The Groesbeck baseball season got under way this week despite the interesting weather. On Monday, the Goats suited up against the Trojans of University over at Waco ISD baseball stadium. The weather was more fitting for an Alaskan hockey crowd. With temperatures in the mid 30’s and brisk winds blowing everyone was up for a quick paced game.

Groesbeck tennis complex site of tournament
      The Groesbeck tennis complex was swarming with tennis players Thursday as the Groesbeck JV and Small School Tournament held its seventeen team tournament. Mexia High School’s courts were also used as well as the courts at Groesbeck Middle School.

Lady Goat softball underway
      Groesbeck softball had a busy week this past week. They were supposed to start with a game on Tuesday, but got snowed out. On Thursday the team headed to the Jacksonville-Brownsboro Tournament. They played 3 pool play games starting with Chapel Hill. Tori Pankonein pitched the Lady Goats to a 6-2 win. Pankonein and Cassie Anders led the team at the plate with 2 hits each.

Now is the time to catch him
      With the rivers and lakes all full up and muddy and cold the bass are dormant. When the water clears up and warms up the fish will be staying along the points of creeks getting ready to spawn - when the temperature of the water gets to 58° to 64° they will move into shallows to spawn.
