Jean Aman Wright

Jean Aman Wright, 94, claimed her hope of Glory on August 13, 2014. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew Wright; brother, Bernice Aman; sisters, Claudine Aman, and Tommie Norris. Jean is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Bishop and husband Bob Bishop; by her son, Mark Wright and wife Pat Wright; grandchildren, Dr. Micah Bishop and wife Dr. Aubrey Bishop, Jaime Thornton and husband Dr. Matt Thornton, Seth Wright and fi ancé Kari Thornton, and Sara Rodgers; one greatgrandson, Harrison Rodgers. Jean was born October 10, 1919 in Thornton, Texas to parents Clovis and Ellen Aman. She grew up in the community until she moved to Mexia, Texas where she met her husband Andrew. They were married on June 1, 1940, and she remained in Mexia working at The Mexia Daily News as a Typesetter and nanny while Andrew served in World War II. They moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1946, where Andrew began working at Champion Paper International.

Paul Nolan Gregory, Sr.

Paul Nolan Gregory, Sr. was born December 3, 1931 and died August 12, 2014 at the age of 82. Paul grew up in Groesbeck, Texas. He attended Baylor and the University of Texas. He moved to Dallas where he was in the banking business for 40 years. A member of Idlewild Club and charter member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Adair Schneider Gregory, two sons; Ted Gregory, Andrew Gregory and wife Ashley four grandchildren and one sister June Parker of Groesbeck. Paul is preceded in death by brothers Bill and Clyde Gregory and son Nolan. A memorial service was held at Park Cities Presbyterian Church 2:30 p.m. Friday and a reception followed. Arrangements were under the direction of Grove Hill Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.

Katherine “Kathy” Ann Connell

Mrs. Katherine “Kathy” Ann Connell, age 54, of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Tyler. She was born December 25, 1959 in Mexia and was a long time member of the community. Survivors include husband, Bob Connell of Lovelady; sons, Billy Connell and wife Leslie of China Spring, Gus Connell of Lovelady; daughters, Emily Connell of Lovelady, Rachel Connell of Lovelady; daughterin- law, Elizabeth Gambill; grandchildren, Jacob Elting, Jessica Connell, Aiden Elting, Taylor Connell, Brittani Gambill, Cade Gambill; other family members and a host of friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, James and Altha Lee Dease; sons, Allen Connell, Lee Connell; and daughters, Laurel Connell, and Sarah Connell. Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy Connell were held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Harvest Church with Rev. Dennis Ivey offi - ciating. Interment followed in Connell Cemetery in Thornton. William Archie Parks

William Archie Parks, of Lake Limestone, passed away at Providence Health Center in Waco on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at age 84. Services were held on Friday, August 1, 2014, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Johnny Layton offi ciating. Burial followed in Lost Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers were William (Chad) Parks, B. J. Rudder, Brent Rudder, Cody Langley, Keith Thompson, and Greg Thompson. Archie was born October 22, 1929 to Bernard and Maudie Rae Parks in Silsbee, where he grew up and graduated from high school. Archie served in the U. S. Army from 1948 through 1952, with time spent in both North and South Korea, which included two miserable winters through 1950 to 1952. He was one of seven who volunteered to train for bomb disposal, was also a diver, and ended his service as Master Sergeant. He was proud to say that they did not lose any of his fellow soldiers during his service period. Archie worked 32-1/2 years for Shell Chemical in Deer Park.

Troy Jene Glasco

Troy Jene Glasco, 52, joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Troy was born to the late Albert Jene, ‘AJ’, and Teresa Glasco on September 26, 1961, in Houston, Texas. After graduating Waller High School, he went on to attend Blinn Junior College. Troy was baptized at Waller Baptist Church in 1980. Troy found the love of his life at an early age. Troy and Tami were high school sweethearts; he even proposed to Tami at her senior prom. They were married on December 18, 1981, and never stopped acting like newlyweds. Christ was always at the center of their relationship, and they set an example of a Godly and joyful marriage for almost 33 years. They were blessed with four beautiful daughters in the fi rst few years of marriage. Tori, Haley and Paige along with their husbands have all made their homes and started their families here in Brenham. Nothing brought Troy greater joy than being surrounded by his family, especially his five grandchildren.

Shawn Dwayne Pinion

AMORY, MS – Shawn Dwayne Pinion, 49, died on Friday, July 18, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born on March 23, 1965, in Houston, Texas, he was a son of the late Cecil and Susan Angle Hargroue and John and Katherine Pinion. Shawn was a 1984 graduate of Groesbeck, Texas high school. A graduate of George Washington University, Shawn was self-employed in the insurance and investments profession. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Shawn was Baptist. Living life to the fullest with a great personality and sense of humor, his life revolved around his son. He enjoyed playing guitar, being outdoors, and Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music.

Nancy Louise Weakley Seay

Nancy Louise Weakley Seay, 88, passed away July 15, 2014 in Dallas surrounded by her family. Nancy was born July 8, 1926, in Dallas, TX to Louise Cunningham Weakley and Clare George Weakley, Sr. She was preceded in death by her brother, David R. Weakley, MD. Nancy is survived by her adoring husband of 66 years, Frank Oliver Seay, MD, and her three children: daughter Diane Seay McNulty, PhD and husband Michael; son Frank Michael Seay; daughter Sally Seay Kreimborg and husband Bob; and brother Clare George Weakley, Jr. Additional survivors include her grandchildren Brynn Bagot Allday and husband Taylor; Patrick McNulty, Timothy McNulty and wife Linda, MD; and Kate White and husband Nate White PhD; as well as six greatgrandchildren. Nancy graduated from Highland Park High School (Class of 1943) and then Southern Methodist University (Class of 1946), where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Nancy met Frank on her fi rst day at SMU at a mixer.

John Paxton Horn

John Paxton Horn, Jr., 59, passed away July 18, 2014 at his home in Groesbeck. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home in Mexia with Pastor John L. Cashew, Jr. Interment was in the Lost Prairie Cemetery. John was born October 5, 1954 in Mexia, Texas to John Paxton Horn, Sr. and Lois Mae Tumlinson Horn. He grew up and lived in Groesbeck his entire life. He had worked for Chapman Construction Company and Frost Construction. John was a simple man who enjoyed living a simple life. Just give him the great outdoors and he was happy. He enjoyed fi shing, camping and Blues music. John was an excellent gardener who could grow anything with very little effort. He was a collector of coins and knives, which he also enjoyed sharpening. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Kay Horn Chapman.
