Tough break for the Groesbeck Lady Goats in their bi-district match against the Franklin Lady Lions last week in Rockdale.
The Lady Goats fell in three sets, 12-25, 12-25, 16-25, to end their season as a bi-district finalist.
“We had to fight to get here,” said coach Melissa Cole. “We’re very young with only three seniors on the team. Our kids didn’t go down easy. They were defensively scrappy and played really hard. I was very proud of them and they went out in Groesbeck style, just fighting to the end.”
Haley DeFriend led with 12 digs, seven kills and an ace in the match. Abby Johnson finished with nine digs and eight set assists, while Emily Garza worked defensively for 19 digs.
Kennedy Cox had eight digs and nine set assists.
Alyssa Anglin helped out with 13 digs and six kills at the net and Kylee Weishuhn recorded 16 digs and two kills.
