Lady Goat Volleyball Two-A-Days underway

After leading the Lady Goats to the 19-3A district crown and the area round of the playoffs in her first year season, coach Melissa Cole expects no less than a return trip and a deeper run this year as Groesbeck prepares to open up the 2014 volleyball season Monday at home against China Spring. The Lady Goats began two-a-day practices on Monday with about 18 girls (varsity and junior varsity) partaking in warm-ups and drills in
morning and afternoon sessions.

Goat Football kicks off with Two-A-Days

Two-a-days began Monday for the Groesbeck Goats football team and new head coach Bruce McDonald is excited about the upcoming season. “It’s a great day because it’s the start of a new adventure,” said McDonald. “Not only for me, but for us.”

After breezing through their fi rst three games of the Texas Teenage Baseball 8U Machine Pitch State Tournament, BMC (Brownsboro-Merchison- Chandler) ran into a minor road block playing their second game in-a-row last Wednesday night when they fell to a strong Belton team.

Goats football season gets underway on Monday

While their Canadian counterparts have already hit the fi eld this season, the Groesbeck Goats begin summer practices on Monday, Aug. 4, with varsity and junior varsity teams workouts beginning at 7 a.m. and freshmen at 10:30 a.m. First year Groesbeck head coach Bruce McDonald says he is excited about what this team can do this season, especially with seniors Jacob Fox (quarterback), Macade Isbell (offensive lineman), Ty Chiglo (defensive lineman), Kayne Parton (linebacker), Logan Nowak (linebacker), Jamie Rocha (defensive back) and Trishawn Townes (defensive back) to name some of the top returners for the team.

City embracing youth baseball tournament

Last year’s Groesbeck City Council’s decision to install additional lights at the Groesbeck Sports Complex is already paying off since Groesbeck is hosting this week’s Texas Teen Age Baseball Association’s Baseball 8U machine pitch state tournament. At last week’s city council meeting, Groesbeck Mayor Ray O’Docharty reminded the council that the tournament is being held Monday-Thursday, July 21-24.

Groesbeck Rangers open at State Tournament

The Groesbeck Rangers opened Monday night of the Texas Teenage Association of Baseball Boys 8U Machine Pitch State Tournament against Belton. The Rangers played a hard fought game against their central Texas counterpart, but Belton prevailed moving on to play Stephenville (winner over Rodgers) on Tuesday night in the winner’s bracket.

Groesbeck will be the hot spot again next week as they host the Texas Teenage Baseball Boys State 8U Tournament, after a successful turnout for the district tournament held July 7-10.

PRIME TIME GIVES BACK

Over the course of the past year, Prime Time Express Mounted Drill Team (PTE) has given back to the community who has so readily supported them. Money was raised to help send the team to Toronto, Canada. The Texas Lions later canceled this trip. It was only fi tting that PTE return the money in some way. “It was an honor and rewarding to return the money to help meet the needs of the counties and towns we represent.” stated Coach Johnna Ingram.

Groesbeck 15U Girls Softball Team Advances to State Playoffs

The Groesbeck Cutters finished the Texas Teenage Softball (TTAS) 15U regular season in first place with an 11-1 final record. The team advanced to the district tournament playoffs looking to advance to state. Game 1 of the tournament pitted Groesbeck (11-1) vs. Clifton (9-2). After falling behind 12-2 the visiting Groesbeck girls mounted an epic come from behind rally to tie the game at 12 and keep their hopes alive.

Ace 6U Softball team undefeated, heading to State

Aces 6U Softball Team just ended an undefeated record of 22-0 in District and will be headed to State Tournament in Holland,Tx the week of June 14 Team Members are Brittyn Bradley, Kate Caldwell, Lacy Carlton, Ralee Champion, Chloe Crane, Reagan Jones, Myli Ladd, Karley Mayhugh, McKinley Miller, Jacey Minchew, Landrie Pringle, Kealey Trojacek all from Groesbeck, pick up players are Kyleigh Benton and Peyton dilday from Riesel, and Annabelle Olson from Hubbard. Coaching Staff for Aces are Jason Pringle, Josh Caldwell, Jimmy Bradley,Clint Mayhugh, Jason Trojacek, and Clayton Carlton.
