Groesbeck Rangers open at State Tournament

The Groesbeck Rangers opened Monday night of the Texas Teenage Association of Baseball Boys 8U Machine Pitch State Tournament against Belton. The Rangers played a hard fought game against their central Texas counterpart, but Belton prevailed moving on to play Stephenville (winner over Rodgers) on Tuesday night in the winner’s bracket.

Groesbeck the hot spot to be this week

Groesbeck will be the hot spot again next week as they host the Texas Teenage Baseball Boys State 8U Tournament, after a successful turnout for the district tournament held July 7-10.

PRIME TIME GIVES BACK

Over the course of the past year, Prime Time Express Mounted Drill Team (PTE) has given back to the community who has so readily supported them. Money was raised to help send the team to Toronto, Canada. The Texas Lions later canceled this trip. It was only fi tting that PTE return the money in some way. “It was an honor and rewarding to return the money to help meet the needs of the counties and towns we represent.” stated Coach Johnna Ingram.

Groesbeck 15U Girls Softball Team Advances to State Playoffs

The Groesbeck Cutters finished the Texas Teenage Softball (TTAS) 15U regular season in first place with an 11-1 final record. The team advanced to the district tournament playoffs looking to advance to state. Game 1 of the tournament pitted Groesbeck (11-1) vs. Clifton (9-2). After falling behind 12-2 the visiting Groesbeck girls mounted an epic come from behind rally to tie the game at 12 and keep their hopes alive.

Ace 6U Softball team undefeated, heading to State

Aces 6U Softball Team just ended an undefeated record of 22-0 in District and will be headed to State Tournament in Holland,Tx the week of June 14 Team Members are Brittyn Bradley, Kate Caldwell, Lacy Carlton, Ralee Champion, Chloe Crane, Reagan Jones, Myli Ladd, Karley Mayhugh, McKinley Miller, Jacey Minchew, Landrie Pringle, Kealey Trojacek all from Groesbeck, pick up players are Kyleigh Benton and Peyton dilday from Riesel, and Annabelle Olson from Hubbard. Coaching Staff for Aces are Jason Pringle, Josh Caldwell, Jimmy Bradley,Clint Mayhugh, Jason Trojacek, and Clayton Carlton.

Goats receive no respect from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine

The Groesbeck Goats football team received no respect from the latest issue of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine that came out recently. The magazine has the Goats picked to fi nish in fi fth place in the new District 7-4A DII.

Groesbeck Youth Baseball/Softball Association to host District and State Tournaments This Year

The Groesbeck Youth Baseball/Softball Associations are pleased to announce that Groesbeck will be hosting both a District and State Baseball tournament this year. These events are anticipated to bring a generous amount of revenue to the Groesbeck/Mexia area. Mandy Adams and Jamie Madison name on the All-State Academic Softball Team

The 2014 TGCA All-State Academic Softball Team has been named and includes a pair of former Lady Goats, Mandy Adams and Jamie Madison. During her senior season, Adams was named to the 2014 Softball 19-3A 
All-District second team as an infi elder. In basketball, she made the 2013-14 Texas Girls Coaches Association 3A All-State Basketball fi rst team, TABC 2013-14 Girls Basketball 3A All-State Academic First Team, TABC 2013-14 Girls Basketball 3A All-Region III First Team, 2013-14 THSCA Girls Basketball All-State Academic Second Team and 2013-14 19-3A Girls Basketball All- District First Team and Academic First Team.

Former Groesbeck athletes participate in FCA activities

It was an exciting few days for three former Groesbeck athletes as they participated in events hosted by Fellowship of Christian Athletes In Waco, which began last Wednesday and was capped off by a volleyball match and football bowl game on Saturday. Mandy Adams, Meagan McLean and Zackary Morgan seized the opportunity to do some volunteer work and other activities with FCA last week, before taking part in Saturday’s sporting events.
