The sting is still there and it may take a little time for their silver medal finish at the Class 4A boys’ state tennis tournament to sink it. But that’s just how much the competitive spirit thrives in Loyd brothers Jason and Michael, sweeping though both district and regional competition this past season for Groesbeck.

Goats baseball season comes to an end at the hands of the Carthage Bulldogs

By Stephen R. Farris

Journal Sports

After coming back to win two of three games against Lorena the week before, Groesbeck tried to repeat that scenario this past weekend against Carthage.

The Goats dropped their first game to the Bulldogs on Thursday, 3-0.

In Saturday’s game, Groesbeck struggled at the plate as the windy conditions allowed what could have been hits turning instead, into somewhat routine outs, frustrating Goat hitters throughout the game.

Carthage struck in the first inning for a run and three more in the thirAd to go ahead, 4-0.

The Goats best chance to score came in the fourth inning when Mitchell Waller reached base on an error by the Bulldogs shortstop.

Dylan Rand laid down a great bunt on the next play and made it to first after the pitcher picked up the ball and tried to get him out, but ended up hitting Rand on the throw.
