Runnin’ Goats and Lady Goat named to the 19-3A All-District teams

      As teams from district 19-3A basketball closed out their playoff runs last week All-District selections were announced. Five members of the 4th place Runnin’ Goats were selected for recognition for their efforts this season. The Goat team finished 6-4 in district just short of pulling into a playoff position.

Donkey Basketball big success
      The high school gym was filled with laughter and excitement on Saturday, February 27th as donkey basketball came to town. Emily Wilson opened the night by singing the National Anthem. First on the court were employees of Devon Energy taking on Luminant with Devon being the winner.

Groesbeck Team Tennis wins Regional Tournament

      Tradition and Expectation are two very good words to describe the Groesbeck tennis program. When you win as often and for as long as the Goat tennis team has, expectation seems to turn into results. That is exactly what happened when the Groesbeck squad headed to Waco Friday for the Regional Tournament. The 9th ranked Goats first took on China Spring.

Lady Goat Softball Takes First Place at Ennis Tournament

      On Thursday, March 4th, the Lady Goat softball team headed out to tackle the Ennis tournament after a great second place finish in the Jacksonville/Brownsboro tournament last week where they lost to 5th ranked Van in the Championship. The Groesbeck team did not want to settle for any place besides first and came out to prove it this week.

Richland-Chambers gets the vote

      At a called meeting at Dr. Tom Fox’s office, the Mexia Bass Club voted to fish Richland Chambers Lake on March 13th and 14th. Starting time on Saturday will be 6:30 a.m. Weigh-in at 4:00 p.m. Note - weigh-in on Sunday will be from 7:30 to 5:00 p.m. due to the Daylight Savings Time begins on that weekend.

Goats Take 3rd Place at Fairfield

      The Groesbeck baseball team started this week off on a wet foot. Rain caused the cancellation of both the JV and Varsity games against the Teague Lions on Monday. On Thursday the Varsity squad headed out bright and early to Fairfield to start play in the Fairfield tournament. The tournament was a 12-team tournament that started with pool play.
