Cornerstone Ceremonies have long history
      The new Limestone Medical Center won't officially open for about four month, but the ceremonies have already begun. Masons for across Texas converged on Groesbeck last Friday to ceremoniously level two cornerstones at the facility.

County Commissioner Have Meeting Monday
      The Limestone County Commissioners Court met on Monday of this week with County Judge Daniel Burkeen presiding. Commissioners John McCarver, Pete Kirven, Morris Beaver, and Milton Carroll all present. The Court approved the payment of bills, the payroll and comp time reports, and the renewable bond for Charlene Black, tax assessor-collector.

      The Texas Highway Patrol investigated 27 rural traffic accidents in Limestone County during August, 2008, according to Sergeant Gary Wright, supervisor for this Highway Patrol Sergeant Area. These accidents resulted in 0 deaths and 8 injuries.

Class of 2011 to Serve Taco Soup Oct. 31
      This year's GHS sophomores, Class of 2011, will be having a Taco Soup Dinner prior to the Friday, October 21 home football game. The soup will be served at the GHS cafeteria from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m., so come by and get a good hot meal and be fired up to cheer on the Goats!

Limestone Co. Early Voting Report
      On Monday, the Limestone County Clerk's office gave a report of early voting in Limestone County through Sunday, October 26. As of Sunday, 352 ballots had been received by mail and 1820 ballots had been cast through early voting by personal appearance for a total of 2,172 early votes.

Vote, Then Eat Stew
      Eastern Star Chapter 810 of Groesbeck will host an Election Day luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge. The luncheon will include stew, cornbread, crackers, dessert and iced tea. The cost is $6 a plate and takeouts will be available.

Teague Teenager Dies in Accident
      Candace Beggs, 18, of Teague died in a two-car crash Sunday near Mexia. Beggs was traveling weatbound on the Highway 84 bridge over Lake Mexia when her vehicle swerved and was struck broadside by a Kia Rio driven by Dusti Valsomahi, 27, of Waco.
