Riesel Meet Begins Track Season
      Track began on Thursday, February 26th for the Groesbeck Goats at Riesel. Four individual girls and one girls relay team placed in their side of the meet. For the Groesbeck boys, six boys and three relay teams captured medals. The girls are coached by Alice Keeton. The boys are coached by Ned Barrier. This week, they compete today, Thursday, March 5th at Fairfield.

Three Goat Lifters Headed To Regional Meet
      Groesbeck High will have three of its boy lifters going to the regional powerlifting meet in next Saturday, March Angel Palomin has the top ranking in the 242 pound weight class in Division 2 of Region 2 with a best effort total lift of 1555 pounds. Dustin Gordon is tied for ninth in the 198 pound class. His top total lift is 1205 pounds .

      Well from down on the farm to Fort Parker State Park, to fishing, and selling cookies, the Girl Scouts are having a great time! Thanks to all of you who bought Girl Scout Cookies - we could not have done it without you! Thanks. Goats Have Good First Week On Diamond
      The Groesbeck Goat baseball team coached by Randy Rush and assisted by Shane Doege and Alex Ihler compiled a 5-1 record in its first week of play. The one loss was to Rusk 5-2on Saturday, February 28 for the championship of the H. E.Estes Tournament. The Goats played Mart at home Tuesday. Today through Saturday, they are in the Blooming Grove Tournament.

      When Camille Perkins was last profiled in the Journal, she had just completed a great career as Groesbeck High's all-state point guard. She was the object of a recruiting campaign being conducted by a number of colleges wanting her to continue her scoring frenzy ways on their courts for ,oh, say, the next four years.

      The Bass Club met at the Farmhouse Restaurant on Feb. 24 in Mexia and voted to fish Lake Waco as it has water high enough to launch your boat. Starting time is 7:00 a.m. Weigh in is 4 p m.

GHS Golfers' Play Improved
      Both Coach Dayne Duncan's Groesbeck boys and girls golf teams made a significant stride in reducing the difference between them and the tournament winner in the match they played last week.
