Coolidge School Board has meeting

The Coolidge ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular session on Thursday, Feb. 19, in the CISD Board Room.

Trustees present were Treon Erwin, Joyce Bateman, Randall Jacobs, Ric Bennett and Abraham Serna. Absent was Danny Finley.

School personnel present were Chris Hulen, Robert Lowry, Terry Farnsworth, and Henry Commiskey.

Joyce Bateman, Board vicepresident, presided during the meeting, and Treon Erwin led in prayer. A public forum was conducted.

The minutes of the January 15th meeting were approved. Also accepted were the activity fund, finance report, budget amendments, and payment of the bills.

The Board ratified the purchase of Apple Laptop Computers and the insurance for the laptops. The property/casualty insurance bid submitted by AIM (Association Insurance Management, Inc.) for $23,477.00. The board accepted a fund balance designation of four months of expenses.

The 2009-2010 school calendar was accepted as presented. A staff development waiver (10 days) for 177 students days and 187 staff days was accepted.

The school board accepted a waiver for Coolidge HUD for payment in lieu of taxes for the 2009-10 year. The 2009-2010 Coolidge ISD Cheerleader Constitution and Rules was accepted as presented. The 2009 Senior Trip to San Marcos and San Antonio was approved.

Tom Hawkins of the Groesbeck Journal was named to the Media Honor Roll by the CISD school board. The revision of Policy EIF (Local) was accepted as presented.

The Elementary Principal reported to the Board that enrollment is 158 and the attendance rate is 96.57%. Proposed funding of the 09-10 PreK Grant was discussed by the Board.

The Secondary Principal reported to the Board that enrollment is 110 and the attendance rate is 95.43%. The benchmark testing results were reviewed with the Board.

The Superintendent reported on property assessment of the district, salary projections, and future staffing information.

The school board went into executive session at 8:40 p m. and reconvened into regular session at 9:05 p m.

The school board approved a salary adjustment for Annie Christian of an increase of 5 percent, effective Jan. 1, 2009.

Approval was given to a one year extension of the Elementary and Secondary principals' contracts.
