COMMUNITY CALENDAR OVER 40 DANCE Friday, March 20 The West Over 40 Dance will begin at 7 p.m. at the West Fraternal Hall, 1000 N. I-35 in West. Music will be by Jerry Haisler and his band. SPAGHETTI IN SHILOH Saturday, March 21Spur of the Moment will perform beginning at 6 p.m. at the Shiloh Community Center, located off Highway on LCR 433. A spaghetti dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and will include garlic bread, a drink and dessert. The cost is $5 per plate and donations will be appreciated. ART LEAGUE MEETING Saturday, March 21The Freestone County Art League will meet at the Church of Christ Fellowship Hall Building, 1001 N. 8th Avenue in Teague, from 10 a.m. to noon. The program will be an art demo by artist Rhonda Lawson of Midlothian. She is a native Texan who has had a passion for art since early childhood. Her work has won awards and been recognized in school, community and premier art exhibits. The meeting is open to the public and members are encouraged to bring guests. Hostesses will be Nancy Barnes, Helen White and Kathryn Davis. Refreshments will be served. SINGLES DANCE Sunday, March 22The Mexia Chapter of the Texas Association of Single Adults will sponsor a singles dance from 6-10 p.m. at the Hewitt VFW, located at 725 Sun Valley Blvd., exit 328 off I-35. The revival will be conducted by Pastor James Lucas and Patsy Lucas. CITYWIDE GARAGE SALE Saturday, March 28Groesbeck's Spring Citywide Garage Sale will be held all over town in both the business and residential parts of town. Parents of all GHS seniors are invited to attend. Seniors are reminded to turn in three or four favorite photos for the senior slide show to Mrs. Waller by April 15. These photos can be from baby to present day. SPRING TRAIL RIDE April 3-6Old Fort Parker will host its annual Spring Trail Ride at the fort. EASTER PAGEANT April 3-5First Baptist Church in Mexia will present its annual pageant at 7 p.m. each night. There also will be a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee performance. Tickets are free. A $100 reward will be presented during the Coolidge Mesquite Tree Festival on May 1 for the best beard grown between April 13 and May 1. The award will be presented at 7:30 p.m. during the Variety Show held at the Coolidge Civic Center. Sign up for the beard contest from 5-7 p.m. April 13 at the Coolidge Senior Citizens Center. There will be a $5 entry fee. LIMESTONE COUNTY FAIR April 15-20 The Limestone County Fair and Youth Livestock Show will be held at the new Show Barn on Longbridge Road in Groesbeck. RIVER CLEANUP Saturday, April 25Volunteers are needed to help clean the Navasota River between the Confederate Reunion Grounds and Fort Parker State Park. This will be the route of the new Limestone Bluffs on the Navasota Paddling trail. Churches, businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to help remove trash and debris from the river.
