Charlotte A. Hazlewood

Charlotte Ann Hazlewood, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 in Victoria. She was born July 6, 1924, in Waco, to the late Chester Palmer Thompson and Hattie Billert Mosley. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from the North Texas University, and received her master's degree in education from the University of Houston-Victoria.

She was an English teacher at Victoria High School for over 20 years, and retired in 1989. She was a member of Retired Teacher's Association.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Howard S. Hazlewood of Victoria (formerly of Groesbeck and a graduate of Groesbeck High School); sons, James H. Hazlewood and wife Linda of Phoenix, and Douglas R. Hazlewood and wife Grace of Victoria; daughter, Barbara K. Hazlewood of San Antonio; six grandchildren: Amy Brown Beers, Amanda Brown, Erin Hazlewood Nystrom, Stephen Hazlewood, Kelsey Hazlewood, and Rachel Hazlewood; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Beers and Kaitlyn Beers.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Victoria, with the Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Hazlewood, Stanly H. Correll, William J. Bryant III, David R. Dierlam, James G. Anderson and Bobby McCants.
