Commissioners Court lifts burn ban for attended burns only
      In Monday's meeting of the Limestone County Commissioners Court the Commissioners lifted the burn ban in Limestone County for attended burns only. Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen presided during the meeting. Commissioners John McCarver, Pete Kirven, Morris Beaver and Milton Carroll were all present.

County boosts cour thous e security
      A vandalism incident that occurred during the Christmas holidays has prompted a boost in security at the Limestone County Courthouse. County Judge Daniel Burkeen said last week that six surveillance cameras equipped with recording equipment are being installed at "key locations" in the courthouse.

     A fund-raising catfish dinner and silent auction were held at Groesbeck Civic Center on Sunday for Earlene Moore, a former captain with the Limestone County Sheriff's Office. Friends and family members held the fund-raiser to help Earline with medical expenses. She is in need of a liver transplant and is currently on a waiting list. TM Hoax has tiny Mexia impact
      As Mexia residents were text-messaged last Wednesday that a violent gang initiation was supposed to take place around the Wal-Mart store, some people forwarded the text message on to friends and family. Others contacted the Mexia Police Department or Wal-Mart on Milam Street.
