     Coolidge Elementary is proud to announce the Good Citizens for the 5th Six Weeks. These students exhibit good behavior, show pride in their community, volunteer and help each other. They are also honest citizens, follow school rules, share and show respect for others. News of Tehuacana and it's people
      Bishop Lowry came to the Methodist Church Friday morning to meet with a few of the church members to discuss his hopes for the church and its members. He said he hopes the church will first and foremost be a Praying Church, then to reach out to the community, to visit and bring the lost to Christ. He also toured the old College.

Coolidge's Mesquite Tree Festival begins May 1
      The Mesquite Tree Festival of Coolidge will begin on Friday, May 1, and will continue through Saturday, May 2. We have something new this year. We are having a beard-growing contest. All men are invited to enter this contest. There will be a prize of $100 for the best beard. Call Joe Rutherford at 786-4958 for information.

Funeral Services held for Dora Harrison
      Dora Gladys Harrison, 90, of Coolidge (formerly of Mexia) passed away April 18, 2009 in Mexia. Funeral services for Mrs. Harrison were held Monday, April 20, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Coolidge. Rev. Chuck Sturgeon officiated with interment following in the Coolidge Cemetery.

Old Fort Parker welcomes Coolidge Garden Club
      The club had a good showing for the Fort Parker excursion. It was so nice to see member Carol Sims. She has not been able to come in a long time! Associate member Robert Sheppard was there as well as visitor Joe Rutherford.

Westminster Homecoming scheduled for Saturday and Sunday
      The annual Westminster College Homecoming will be this Saturday and Sunday in Tehuacana. On Saturday night at 6 p.m., a gathering Westminster exstudents will be held in historic Texas Hall on the old college campus. On Sunday, the reunion will continue at the Tehuacana United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Coolidge School Board meets in regular meeting
      The Coolidge ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular session on Thursday night, April 16, in the Coolidge ISD Board Room. Trustees present for the meeting were Treon Erwin, Joyce Bateman, Randall Jacobs, Abraham Serna, Danny Finely. Trustee Ric Bennett was absent.
