***** THORNTON MAKES GOOD SHOWING AT MEET

Thornton did not have many entries in the literary events at the district meet in Chilton, but made a good showing.

Martha Tilley and Lyndon Phelps won first place in high school spelling. Betty Brooks and Jewell Willett won first place in elementary school spelling. Loibeth Black was first in junior high school declamation, and Nelda Stutts won third in the senior high school declamation.
