Caldwell makes this observation: "I would like to nominate Walter Leach as 'Bluebonnet King of Limestone County'. This is based on the beautiful field on the highway between Groesbeck and Thornton. See it!" ***** THORNTON MAKES GOOD SHOWING AT MEET Thornton did not have many entries in the literary events at the district meet in Chilton, but made a good showing. Martha Tilley and Lyndon Phelps won first place in high school spelling. Betty Brooks and Jewell Willett won first place in elementary school spelling. Loibeth Black was first in junior high school declamation, and Nelda Stutts won third in the senior high school declamation. |
