4-H Livestock Judging Teams enjoy success at State Level The McLennan County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams competed at the State 4-H Contest on June 11, at College Station on the campus of Texas A&M University. The contest was the closest it has been in history with only 4 points separating the top 4 teams. McLennan County team #1 took home 3rd place overall out of 97 teams from across the state of Texas. This won them a trip to Kansas City, Missouri to represent Texas at the American Royal Livestock Show in November, 2009. Team members are: Taylor Haliburton, Emily Jackson, Laramie Priest and Brant Embry. They placed 1st in the Sheep & Goat division, 2nd in the Swine division, 2nd in the Reasons division and eighth in the Cattle division. Emily Jackson was the 1st place High Individual of the contest out of 278 judges. She placed 4th in Swine, 2nd in Sheep, 2nd in Cattle, and 1st in reasons. McLennan County Team #2 placed 28th out of the 97 teams and was also the 2nd place team from District 8. Team members were Dalton Meurer, Connor Jackson and Christy Jones. Congratulations to these youths on an excellent job and a very successful year. Coaches David Groschke, Shane McLellan and Sarah Chudalla are preparing them to head to Kansas City for a National Championship! |
