SUMMER TENNIS Thursday, July 2

Junior tennis clinics will be held at Groesbeck High School. Future Stars, for students 5 to 12, will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and Tournament Stars, for students entering seventh through 12th grades, will be from 7:45-8:45 p.m. The clinics cost $6 a day or $10 a week for Groesbeck Tennis Association members and $8 a day or $14 a week. BLUEGRASS CONCERT Friday, July 3

Karl Shiflett and his Big Country Show will perform a free concert from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Groesbeck City Park. Other bands also may perform. Bring a lawn chair.

GROESBECK JULY 4TH Saturday, July 4

Groesbeck's Independence Day celebration will include a parade, a pizza-eating contest sponsored by Buck's Pizza, the Methodist Men's pancake breakfast, arts and crafts, free swimming, volleyball and basketball competitions, a Little Miss Fourth of July contest, music by the Morticians, music throughout the afternoon, peach cobbler and ice cream, and fireworks. With the exception of the pancake breakfast and parade, all events will be held at Groesbeck City Park.

FIRECRACKER 5K RUN/1K WALK Saturday, July 4

Registration begins at 7 a.m., the walk starts at 8 a.m. and the race gets under way at 8:15 a.m. at Hughes City Park across from Parkview Regional Hospital. The entry fee is $20 and registrants receive a free T-Shirt. The overall winners, plus first, second and third places in each 10-year age group, starting with 19 and younger, will receive awards. The first five female and first five male finishers in the walk also will be awarded. For more info, call (254) 562-5569.

MEXIA CAR SHOW Saturday, July 4

Cars, trucks and motorcycles will be on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Parkside Full Gospel Church (one block west of Parkview Regional Hospital). Plaques will be presented to category winners and there will be hourly prize drawings. The first 75 registrants will receive event Tshirts and dash plaques. Entry fee is $25 and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Call (254) 562-5569.

PEE WEE CHEER REGISTRATION Saturday, July 4

Registration begins for Pee Wee cheerleading from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City Park (during Fourth of July celebration). Deadline for registering is Aug. 1. HEAT REGISTRATION Friday, July 10

Event will be 9 a.m. to noon in front of Brookshire's Grocery. VIN etching will also be available. The "Don't Miss Groesbeck Lions Club will sponsor the Registration for the Help End Auto Theft Task Force.

LOST PRAIRIE MEMORIAL Saturday, July 11

Morning services for the Lost Prairie Cemetery Memorial will begin at 10:50 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. Afternoon services will begin at 1:15 p.m. The final report will be read and approved, and there will be a discussion about matters related to the cemetery. Officers for the upcoming year will be elected.

REVIVAL AT LAKE July 12-15

Pastor Johnny Layton and the congregation of Lake Limestone Baptist Chuch will hold a revival from 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.mm. Monday through Wednesday. Bro. James Engle, a pastor with First Baptist Church in Jewett. The church is located at 17905 Sterling Robertson Dam Road in the Seale-Round Prairie community.

SENIOR CITIZENS DAY OUT Thursday, July 16

Limestone County Transit will depart the Groesbeck Senior Citizens Center at 12:30 p.m. and travel to Navarro College in Corsicana to visit the school's museum, which is hosting a traveling apron exhibit. After the museum stop, the tour will stop at Braum's Ice Cream before heading home. The cost is $14 roundtrip. Call 729-5123 for details.

THORNTON HOMECOMING July 17-18

HOTCOG WORKSHOP Friday, July 17
