News of Tehuacana and its people Mary Douglas is at home in Hillsboro following hip replacement surgery on Tuesday. Her husband Bob says she is doing ok. The Methodist folks went to the Haven Nursing Home Thursday to help celebrate June Birthday. The Pastor of Tehuacana Church was unable to attend, so Brad Brittian, the Pastor of First Methodist Church in Mexia gave a short devotional. The 42 group (Shakers) met Wednesday with a good group of folks playing 4. Those attending were: Patsy Fountain, Jerry Chilcoat, Virginia Bounds, Mary Jones, Alaine Bounds, Dorothy Radford, Linnie McManus, Virginia Sanders, Opal Hillis, Linda Morris, Doris Merridith, Mary Commiskey, Lou McMain, Sheila Higgins, Bobby & Barbara Duke, Jesse & Gerry Edwards and Claude Monk. I came at lunch and brought Claude's lunch. Sheila Higgins does not play 42 but always helps with food. Sheila has such a good garden. She brought egg plants and green peppers for everyone that wanted them. There was a good crowd at both churches Sunday. The Baptist Church did not have Sunday night services as the Pastor took a short vacation, but he was back for mid-week Prayer Meeting. It has been so hot, you really don't want to do anything outside. We went to Corsicana on Friday to take my computer to be repaired and we came home through the country. The corn was so pretty but is now burning up. I feel so sorry for the farmers. Let's all pray that God will send us a good rain soon. Claude and I went to Teague early Tuesday morning and picked blueberries. We picked almost two gallons. Then, I got hot and we came home and I put the blueberries in the freezer. The blueberries are smaller this year due to the lack of rain. Our prayers are with the sick of our community and elsewhere, and our troops wherever they are. |
