GROESBECK CAR SHOW
American flags wave from the bumper of a vintage Ford at the Groesbeck Lions Club's annual car show. The show was originally set for May 2, but heavy rains forced the club to reschedule the event. Some of that rain would have been welcomed Saturday as temperatures hit the 107-degree mark. Story, 9B Journal photo/David Stoned After a week of watching temperatures hover around the 105 mark, memories of late April's eight-inch deluge are beginning to fade.
The heavy April 28 rains left the grounds at City Park saturated and forced the Groesbeck Lions Club to postpone its annual car show, which had been scheduled for May 2. The show was finally held Saturday, and that once-soggy soil was as hard as bricks.
While temperatures Saturday were again in triple digits, a small but enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a day filled with Corvettes, old trucks, Mustangs and Bell-Airs, plus more than a few hotrods of varying ancestry.
Event organizer Cody Campbell said 55 vehicles were on display at the show.
Winners were named in several categories, including:
