Did You Know? According to the United States Green Building Council, ecofriendly buildings not only make a positive impact on the environment, but on the pocketbook as well. Making environmentally friendly adjustments such as improving insulation, installing low-flow water fixtures and toilets, and using longer lasting light bulbs in existing buildings or new buildings can make a major impact on a company's bottom line. Such adjustments, the Green Building Council says, can reduce water usage by 40 percent, lower energy usage and carbon dioxide emissions by more than one-third, and add $180 billion annually in increased worker productivity. In addition, waste that results from construction and demolition is reduced by 50 to 75 percent when building with eco-friendly products. |
