UMW Day at First United Methodist Church with special pillows being dedicated
This past Sunday was United Methodist Women (UMW) Sunday at the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck with the UMW members being recognized during the morning worship service. Various UMW members served as greeters, ushers and performed other duties during the service. Martha Longbotham, UMW president, gave a review of the UMW year. A special part of the program was the dedication and blessing of 48 large pillows which the UMW members made for the 16 resident houses at Methodist Home in Waco. The fabric for the pillows was donated by Longbotham Furniture and the stuffing was donated by Hobbs Bonded Fibers of Waco. Rev. Ron Bellomy, pastor, led in a special prayer for this project. Each year the UMC presents a UMW Woman of the Year on UMW Sunday. This year, the honor was presented to Martha Stone, who has been active in the UMW, various church and community activities. Pictured above are many of the UMW members with the pillows which they made for the Methodist Home. (Journal photo/Tom Hawkins)
