Nurse practitioner joins FMC staff

By David Stone

Ann Hackbarth, a family nurse practitioner and a native of Taylor, has joined the staff at Family Medicine Center.

She started her position at the Groesbeck clinic in September.

As a nurse practitioner, Hackbarth can diagnose and treat health problems and prescribe medications. Her supervising physician is Dr. Frank Boyd.

“I can see any patient from newborn to senior citizen,” she said.

A graduate of the University

of Texas and a hardcore Longhorn football fan, Hackbarth has been a family nurse practitioner for about 8 years. Before making the career change, she had been a wound, ostomy and continency nurse in Austin for 20 years. She had a private practice in Austin, and also did consultation work for hospitals and homecare agencies.

She and her husband, Harvey, have built a home at Lake Limestone.

“We plan to be here for a long time,” she said. “This is our home.”
