Groesbeck Senior Citizens Center News
      Well we prayed for rain and the Lord answered - praise His name! We had a wonderful story teller here at the center yesterday, the 28th as Mrs. Nelson came and enjoyed lunch and then told stories. Thank you so much Mrs. Nelson. We hope all the children out there trick or treating will be safe this year and unharmed.

Homemade chili at Lake Mexia
      The public is invited to the annual fundraiser for Lake Mexia Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, Nov. 14. Come to the fire station at the corner of LCR 377 and LCR Comanche at Lake Mexia. Homemade chili with all the trimmings, beans, cobbler and iced tea will be served from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children under 12.

      Recently I had been thinking how fortunate I have been in that I haven’t been bothered with insects here in Paradise. Seldom do I see even an ant while I am raking and digging trying to keep our town somewhat clean. I know for a fact that there are more of the biting and stinging insects there in Limestone County than there are here.

LMC Volunteers Met Oct. 19
      The Limestone Medical Center Volunteers met Monday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Board Room of the Limestone Medical Center for their regular monthly meeting with 12 members present. Also attending were Mrs. Penny Gray, Administrator; Cody Campbell, Marketing Director; Mrs. Laverne Kennedy, Dietary manager; and 1 new volunteer.

Knights of Columbus at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
      Seven of our brother knights went to the exemplification ceremony in West, TX to receive the highest degree at the Knights of Columbus organization. It is called the 4th Degree. What is a Fourth Degree Knight? On February 22, 1900, the first Fourth Degree exemplification or degree ceremony was held in New York City. The Fourth Degree imparts a lesson on the virtue of patriotism.

Four Baylor students receive Hogg scholarships
      Waco – Four Baylor University students are among 22 bilingual graduate social work students to receive $386,000 in full-tuition scholarships from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health in Austin. The students are Mary Zane Morton of Eagle Pass, Emilie Ventura of Beaufort, S.C., and Sonia Fuentes and Viviana Urdaneta of Waco.
