Goats fall to LaVega
      The Groesbeck High School varsity football team lost its seventh straight game against La Vega High School in a contest that was closer than the final score showed. The Goats stayed within striking distance of the Pirates for most of the night, but La Vega pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Groesbeck 31-6.

      When the Groesbeck Goats take the turf of Groesbeck Stadium this Friday night, twelve Groesbeck High School seniors will be their final football game for the Goats.

GMS Cross Country does well at District
      GMS Cross Country teams competed in the district meet on Oct. 28th. The girls team placed 2nd overall, losing to Lorena by only 4 points.

Goats face Mexia to wrap up season
      The Groesbeck High School varsity football team will play one last time under the Groesbeck Stadium lights this Friday against district leader Mexia. Mexia is 7-2 overall and 3-1 in district. Quarterback Trae Davis leads Mexia. Davis leads District 19-3A with 1,599 passing yards, 19 touchdowns and only one interception.

Pirates shutdown Goat Middle School football teams
      It was a tough night for the Groesbeck Middle School football teams at LaVega last Thursday night. LaVega protected their home turf by defeating Groesbeck in all four games. Three of the four resulted in shutouts.

Eighth grade Red football
      The 8th grade Red Goats lost to the Pirates 30-0. The Goats had good drives on offense but could not score on the field position. The defense could not stop the Pirate offense. Hard running by Tony Parker and Chris Kelley. Key defensive players were Colton Swick, Barrett Myers, and Stephen Featherston.

A Triple Play
      This is a story that happened in 1940 while I was playing pro baseball in the Evangeline League in Louisiana. As the World Series is approaching soon, my mind drifts back to the only triple play I was ever involved in. I was a catcher but they put me in right field because I was hitting over 300, and I needed a rest from catching.
