Coolidge Senior Citizens Center News

By Sylvia Johnson Site Manager

Have been out with a pelvic fracture for seven weeks. It seems longer since I was unable to do much of anything for a few weeks. I am so glad to be back with my family here at the center. I really do appreciate the fine job that Chris Kilgore did while I was away. I did celebrate my 80th birthday on Sept. 22. My children gave me a wonderful reception at the civic center in Mexia. I just thank God for every day that He lets me stay here and be of some assistance at the center.

The attendance is never as good as I would like it to be. I would love to have a full house every day. I know that we all get sick, have doctor’s appointments or other things to do that keep us from coming. We do need your support in order to keep the center up and running.

Emily from Wortham Rehab was supposed to come on Oct. 29 to cook some of her delicious pancakes, but called and said she was sick. I do hope she is well by now. Kathy, from Mexia Nursing Home came and brought us donuts and kolaches, thank you Kathy. We do appreciate all the things that people do for us. Christi from Pineywoods Home Health Care came on Nov. 2 to take blood pressure and blood glucose screening, thank you Christi, we appreciate you also.

We will have our Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Please call and let me know if you would like to come. We would love to have you. We will be closed Nov. 26 and 27. Emily will come to cook us pancakes on Nov. 19 and if we have enough show up, Kathy will probably call bingo for us.

The ladies from the United Methodist Church have just put on a new quilt and have started quilting it. It is a pretty tulip quilt. The top was pieced and donated by Lois Latham. I believe they told me she gave them two more quilt tops.

Christi will be back on Dec. 7 for blood pressure and glucose screening. Please mark all these events on your calendars and come take advantage of these services.

Christmas is almost here and another year will be soon be gone. I just wish that our nation would get back on track and Christians would be honoring our Savior, as it should be.

We are having good meals and a lot of sweet fellowship. Please come and join us. Rose Mary always has the center decorated so pretty with each season.
