Storytelling celebrated locally at Tellabration 2009

      The Bluebonnet Scops Storytelling Guild of Limestone and Freestone Counties celebrated Tellabration, a worldwide celebration of the art of storytelling, on Saturday night, at the Gibbs Memorial Library in Mexia. The program began with music and entertainment by Jodi Commander and Wynona Lipsett, both of Mexia.

      This Thanksgiving Day will be on Thursday, November 26. The first Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed by the Continental Congress in 1776. After a few changes, it was proclaimed the official Thanksgiving Day would always be on the third Thursday in November by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940.

      Stan and Cindy knew their way around Oahu almost as well as I. Stan did all the driving as we visited most of the tourist attractions. This included the Diamond Head Crater, the blow hole, several well known bays including Kaneohe Bay, the North shore, the Dole plantation, and back to Pearl Harbor where we went aboard a moored WWII submarine.

Recycling Center Open this Wednesday
      The Recycling Center will be open this Wednesday (Nov. 25) rather than Thursday. The Recycling Center will be closed on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day). The Center will also be open on this Saturday, November 28, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Regular days for the Recycling Center are Monday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon; Thursday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
