C.H. Reininger

Clarence Henry “C.H.” Reininger, of Sweeny, Texas, went to his heavenly home with Jesus on December 16, 2009. He was born on February 21, 1914 in New Braunfels, Texas to Theodor and Meta (Moeller) Reininger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Marcella Schroeder and Viola Ledkins; brothers, Egon Reininger and Richard Reininger; his beloved granddaughter Valerie Miller and great-grandson, Colton Schuerg; special friends Susie Jones, Barbara Bonano, and Martha Jane.

He is survived by his daughters, Jane Orchard of Sweeny and Nettie (Rodney) Willett of Groesbeck; four grandchildren, Bubba Orchard of Sweeny, Krista (Terry) Kelley, Kandace Willett of Groesbeck, Travis Willett of Kerrville; seven greatgrandchildren, Tabitha Schuerg of Brazoria, Cayla and Cory Orchard of Sweeny, Cole, Kate and Klaire Kelley of Groesbeck and Laci Willett of Taylor; special friend and caregiver, Helen McBee of Sweeny; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, many friends and his church family.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas with Bro. Rodney Coates officiating.

C.H. served his country in the Army Air Corp in World War II and was buried with military salute at Sweeny Cemetery next to his precious Valerie and Colton.

Pallbearers were Bubba and Cory Orchard, David Schuerg, Rodney and Travis Willett, and Terry Kelley.

He worked at many jobs through the years and was a hard worker and good provider for his family.

He found the joy of his working career when he retired at age 65 and decided to go back to school to become a real estate broker. He owned and operated Reininger Real Estate for 30 years. Even when his mobili limited his ability to go out into the field, his sharp mind and his telephone all owed him to make ‘the deals.’ It was through his real estate business that he made many friends and business acquaintances in Groesbeck, and Limestone, Falls, and surrounding counties.

He was a regular subscriber to the Groesbeck Journal for over 25 years and one of the highlights of his week was when the Journal arrived and he could pour over the real estate ads.

C.H. always enjoyed singing specials at church and his own rendition of “Without Him” at family reunions, was a tradition.

He really was a bit of ‘ham’ and he left his mark on the kids and grandkids. He also left a mark of generosity and kindness for those less fortunate and an example of honesty and integrity.

His presence will always be missed and we can only wait for that day when we will be reunited with him in the presence of our glorious saviour, Jesus Christ.
