RAINS DELAY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Last week’s heavy rains filled rivers, creeks and stock ponds, but also turned low spots at Groesbeck-area construction sites into small lakes. In the above photo, water filled a large hole at the site of the future Enge-Washington Intermediate School. Rains also slowed down construction at the new county jail and Sheriff’s Office on Longbridge Road and at City Park, where crews have been preparing the ground for a new baseball and softball complex. Work continued last week on the new Palace Inn just north of Groesbeck High School, and that business is expected to open this spring. Next week, ground will be broken on a new terminal building at Limestone County Airport on Highway 14 near Forest Glade. Journal photo/David Stone
