Along The River Bank

Fishing has slowed
by Wayne Carroll

There has not been a lot of fishing going on lately due to cold water and fish doldrums. No fish keeper size was caught by the Mexia Bass Club last week on Lake Fairfield. There was no fish caught on Lake Limestone last week, and no fish caught on the river last week. All due to winter doldrums by the cold water as it is every year. The fish will be staying along the drop offs and second points until the middle of February. Then they will move into the shallows to begin their spawning, that’s when the big ones will put on their show. It will be showtime then for a while. I can hardly wait until then.

The next event on fishing will be Jan. 30 and 31 at Springfield Lake, when about 200 kids will fish for trout. Its all free for kids. I will have the story next week in the Journal.
