Limestone County Commissioners meet

COUNTY OFFICIALS/EMPLOYEES HONORED FOR YEARS OF SERVICE: At the Monday, February 22nd meeting of the Limestone County Commissioners Court, approximately 40 Limestone County officials and employees were recognized for having 10 years of service or more. Many of those receiving this award are pictured above. (Journal photo/Tom Hawkins) The Limestone County Commissioners Court met on Monday, February 22, with Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen presiding. Commissioners Pete Kirven, Morris Beaver and Milton Carroll were all present with Commissioner John McCarver being absent.

In regard to the Limestone County Detention Center the Court approved Invoice #8 from Burns Architecture, Inc. for fire alarm and security electronics.

Approval was given to recall $90,000 from Texpool.

In regard to the Limestone County Detention Center Brian Swick will obtain prices on DVR system with no action being taken.

The Court rescinded action on advertising for a welding truck for the Road & Bridge Department.

The Court approved the purchase of a forklift attachment for maintenance at the Limestone County Fairgrounds. Also in regard to the Limestone County Fairgrounds, the full schedule of events at the Fairgrounds was reviewed and lights on the south end of the parking lot were installed. Judge Burkeen will look into getting a new sign for the fairgrounds.

Tacker Construction received the bid for the new Limestone County Detention Center Training Center. Dick Scott Ford received the bid for a pickup for the Road & Bridge Department.

The racial profiling report from Sheriff Wilson was approved for record.

Abatement procedures in accordance with Chapter 343 of the Texas Healthy and Safety Code were approved.

Some forty Limestone County officials and employees with 10 years or more of service were recognized during the meeting. The names of these officials will be listed with a picture which will accompany this article.

Limestone County Sheriff Dennis Wilson presented Shannon Rousey with a plaque for recognition of 15 years of service in law enforcement in the Limestone County Sheriff's office.
