      A Galveston trip for two at the historic Galvez hotel, a quilt made of Groesbeck team shirts, a 44-inch custom Fire Ring, a barbecue utensil set, a rocking chair, baskets of goodies. What do these have in common? They are all auction items for the upcoming Senior Dinner and Auction. Every year Seniors and their parents work hard on the last fundraiser of their high school years.

      Two best quizzers of each class of Grade 5 through Confirmation competed in the finals last Wednesday. Group A headed by Deacon Dwight with Rocio Luna, Martha Rivera, Katelyn Kaminski, Roman Lopez and Reilly Jones edged Group B headed by Deacon Richard with Amber Howard, Jennifer Contreras, Denise Garcia, Karina Rivera and Cesar Aguilar.

Lil’ Dobbers take first at San Angelo
      The Limestone County 4-H Lil’ Dobbers Ag Mechanics team made a trip to the San Angelo Livestock Show and Rodeo last week to compete in the agriculture mechanics fair. The team competed with two different projects -- a handicap accessible deer stand and a welding skid that placed first in its division and went on to win Reserve Grand Champion project overall.

      After just returning home from the Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, it was time for 4-H members to head south to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. Nolan Russell, Mexia 4-H member, participated in the Brahman Heifer Show with a heifer purchased from winning the 2009 Calf Scramble.
