Community Calendar CLASS OF 2010 DINNER & AUCTION Thursday, March 11 The GHS senior class will hold a fund-raising dinner and auction at 5:30 p.m. in the H.O. Whitehurst cafeteria. OLETHA JAMBOREE Saturday, March 13 The Oletha Jamboree will be held at the Oletha Community Center. The Ray Sanders Band begins performing at 5:45, and a baked potato dinner with chili, cheese, onions, sour cream and butter, plus drink and dessert will be served starting at 6 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. There also will be a cake and pie auction. The guest band will be Steele Creek, and The Baldwin Boys will wrap up the night’s entertainment. SINGLES DANCE Sunday, March 15 The Waco Chapter of the Texas Association of Single Adults will have a dance from 6-10 p.m. at the Hewitt VFW, located on SunValley Blvd. in Hewitt. LMC VOLUNTEERS Monday, March 15 The Limestone Medical Center Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. in the hospital’s board room for their regular monthly meeting. The group meets on the third Monday of each month. Persons interested in volunteering at the hospital are urged to attend.OLETHA CC BOARD Tuesday, March 16 The Oletha Community Center board of directors will have a quarterly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the center. There will be several items on the agenda for discussion. LIBRARY FRIENDS Tuesday, March 16 The Friends of Maffett Library will meet at 5 p.m. in the library. SPRING FLING Thursday, March 25 Limestone Medical Center will host a wellness fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than just a health fair, Spring Fling 2010 will provide are residents the opportunity to receive a variety of free diagnostic tests. EASTER PAGEANT March 26-28 First Baptist Church of Mexia will host its 26th annual Easter Pageant at the church. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, but tickets are required and are available at the church office. 5K RUN/1 MILE WALK Saturday, March 27 Limestone Medical Center will sponsor ‘Run for the Health of It’ beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Groesbeck City Park. Entry is $15 before March 20 and $20 on race day. Pre-registered participants will receive a free T-shirt. Proceeds benefit Limestone Medical Center’s Relay for Life team and the American Cancer Society.ARTS & CRAFT SHOW Saturday, March 27 The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Spring Arts & Crafts Show at the Groesbeck Civic Center. CITYWIDE GARAGE SALE Saturday, March 27 Groesbeck’s spring Citywide Garage Sale will be held at residences and businesses through the city. MEXIA GOLF CLASSIC Friday, April 2 The Mexia Chamber of Commerce will hold its 27th annual Golf Classic at Big Cedar Country Club. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The four-person scramble has a $75 per person entry fee, and there will be $1,500 in prizes. Awards will be given for closest to the pin and for longest drive. LIMESTONE COUNTY FAIR RODEO April 9-10 Flying W Rodeo of Oklahoma will present a two-day United Professional Rodeo Association rodeo at the Limestone County Fairgrounds. LIVING HISTORY DAYS April 16-18 An army of re-enactors will gather at the Confederate Reunion Grounds for three days of living history presentations. The first day, Friday, April 16, will be reserved for school children. About 1,500 students from schools across the region are expected to attend.
