Remember these dates, May 6-7, 2011, as they are the dates for the Mesquite Tree Festival being held in Coolidge,Texas.Hereaafewofthe activities that are planned for your entertainment.

Friday, May 6, beginning at 6pm, there will be a fish fry at the community center on Bell street. The price of the fish fry will be $7.00 a plate. Takeouts will begin at 5;30.

At 8pm, the JOHNNY ROCKET SHOW will begin. Johnny will be doing a tribute to ELVIS, along with the scarves and teddy bears. He really puts on a good show for the young and old. $5.00 will get you in.

Saturday May 7, there will be a Mr.&Miss Mesquite Tree Pageant for ages 1 day thru 18 years. Contestants are from the Coolidge ISD area and also relatives of Coolidge residents.

The parade will start at 11AM at the COMMUNITY CENTER and continue downtown. There will be motorcycles, Shriners clowns and cars, Bands, floats, cars, and horses galore. Anyone that would want to enter our parade be at the Center by 10:30 AM to line up.

There will be numerous vendors selling their wares, crafts, food, jewelry, and all sorts of items.

Music will be going on all day and jump houses, pony rides, and other entertainment for the children.

At 8PM the Street Dance will be held. DIAMOND BACK is the band and they draw a large crowd so come on out and enjoy the dance, or just listen to the music.

We will have a raffle going on through the day. Don’t have a list of everything ready yet, but I do know there will be a $200 gift certificate from Wallmart on the list. Tickets will be sold downtown and at the dance.

Come one and all and enjoy the day. Oh yes, the theme for our festival is the 50’s and I hear there will be some 50’s costumes around. So , get out your poodle skirt, or anything from the 50’s and lets have a good time.
