Mass Celebrated Feb. 8 For Verna Anthony
Verna Anthony of Groesbeck Long Term Care Center passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008.
Rosary was celebrated at 7:00 P.M. with Father Benji Magnaye officiating on Thursday, Feb. 8.
Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin with Father John Boiko officiating. Burial followed at Marlin Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Anthony was born April 16, 1912 in Bremond to John and Antonia (Michalak) Bench.
She married Blanchard (Skinny) LeNoir of Marlin who preceded her in death in 1958. She later married a long time friend, Harry Anthony, who also preceded her in death in 1973.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Blanchard LeNoir and wife Martha of Groesbeck and Don LeNoir and wife Joanne of Plano; grandchildren Anita Arnold, Laurye Allen, Sabrine Lewis and husband Brent, Tony LeNoir and Blair LeNoir. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Verna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin. She spent her life caring for others, working at home health, Marlin Hospital as an aid and Sherwood Nursing Home as a LVN in Bryan.
She lived 95 wonderful years and never was concerned with death. She will be missed by many.

Graveside Services Held Feb. 6 for Charles Cox
Charles Cox, 80, of Marlin passed away early Tuesday February 5, 2008 in Falls Community Hospital in Marlin.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin with John Michalak officiating.
Mr. Cox was born November 19, 1927 in Falls County. He was a fireman for a number of years. He retired from Falls County Road & Bridge. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served in the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy Mae (Long) Cox.
Survivors include friend, Peggy Michalak of Groesbeck, TX.

Betty Lynn Gates Funeral Services Held February 7
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lynn Kuykendall Gates, 63 of Tehuacana were held Thursday, February 7, 2008 in Blair – Stubbs Chapel . Bro. Eugene Arnold and Bro. Larry Holden officiated with interment to following in the Tehuacana Cemetery.
Mrs. Gates was born July 25, 1944 in Cleburne to L. B. and Dovie Campbell Kuykendall and passed away on February 4, 2008 at her residence in Tehuacana. She worked as Program technician, client records, at Mexia State School and retired after 30 years. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Harold C. Gates of Tehuacana, a daughter, Audrey Yvonne Isbell of Coolidge, a son, Harold Duwain Gates of Tehuacana, four grand-children, Lacey Lynn Isbell and Marcie Yvonne Isbell, both of Abilene, Kaysi Charlotte Isbell and Hayli Deanne Isbell of Coolidge and a sister, Virginia Berry of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, L. B. Kuykendall and Dovie Campbell Kuykendall Craddock and by a son, Jeffrey Lynn Gates on March 11, 1985.
Pallbearers were Lewis Isbell, Gary Isbell, Frankie Isbell, Ricky Davis, Heath Allcorn and Dustin Richards.

Roland Hoffpauir Passes Away in Kerrville
Roland Hoffpauir at the age of 86 passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 at the Kerrville, Tx. VA hospital.
He was born on March 23,1921 in Bell City, Louisiana to Elbert Hoffpauir and Rosabell Cox Hoffpauir.
Roland married Doris Vinzant. He worked in the Oil Field as a plant manager. Roland served in the U S Army from 1944 until 1945.
He is preceded in death by parents.
Roland is survived by his wife Doris Hoffpauir of Kerrville, Texas: sons Mike Hoffpauir of Center Point Tx and J R Hoffpauir and wife Pat of Center Point Tx: brother Elbert Hoffpauir and wife Thelma of Tyler, Texas: 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends who love him and will miss him. Private family services.
Graveside Services Held Feb. 7 For Dorothy Lummus
Dorothy Mary Wilson Lummus of Tyler, formerly of Ennis and Victoria, passed away on February 4, 2008.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Fort Parker Memorial Park near Groesbeck with J. B. Owen, Jr. of Waco officiating.
Dorothy Mary was born August 23, 1916 near Kosse, Texas to Jesse T. and Maggie Myrtle Lee Moncrief. She graduated from Kosse High School in May, 1935. In Feb., 1936 she married the love of her life, Loyce Dwain Wilson of Groesbeck. Mr. Wilson passed away in Oct. 1966. After 17 years she married Wallace Lummus. Mr. Lummus died in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Blake Moncrief and Gene Moncrief and sister Faye Stokes.
She is survived by her son Blake Dwain Wilson and wife Jean of Flint; three grandchildren Gary Dwain Wilson of Wichita Falls, Jeffrey Wade Wilson and wife Rhonda of Sachse, Jennifer Kay Plexico and husband Richard of Rockwall; great grandsons Jeffrey Dwain, Austin Lee and Christopher Philip Wilson all of Wichita Falls, Blake Arthur Plexico of Rockwall, Joshua Lee Patterson and wife Megan, Adam Patterson of Rowlett; great great grandson Mason Lee Patterson of Rowlett; sister-in-law Florence Moncrief of Manhattan, IL; along with nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mrs. Lummus was a resident of Briarcliff Health Center in Tyler. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Victoria. She loved to cook, visit with her many friends and family.
Pallbearers were be Gary Wilson, Jeff Wilson, Richard Plexico, Dr. Arthur Munford, Basil Garrett and John Hunter.

Adeline McNeice Funeral Services Held February 8
Adeline McNeice was born on December 12, 1918 in Woodrow, TX and passed away on February 6, 2008 in Commerce, TX.
She is survived by her daughters, Tomaline Rutherford and husband Joe, Cynthia Pierce and husband Wayne. Grandchildren, Donna Joyce Rutherford of Haslett, TX, Margaret Frances Rawlins, of Commerce, Donna Marie Pierce, of Commerce. Great- grandchild Raychel Elaine Rutherford from Haslett.
Adeline was a member of Aberfoyle Baptist Church, she enjoyed sewing and left a legacy in her quilts. Adeline devoted 3 decades of her life to raising her grandchildren and leaves a great hole in the lives of her daughters and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed everyday.
Funeral services were held on Friday February 8, 2008 at the Chapel of Coolidge Cemetery in Coolidge, Texas.
Loy C. Sanders Funeral Services Held Feb. 9
Loy Cleven Sanders of Robinson passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 9, 2008 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Powers officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery.
Mr. Sanders was born September 11, 1940 in Limestone County to Carl T. and Ruthie Jewel (Sutton) Sanders. He retired as a steel erector in the construction business in 2006.
Mr. Sanders is survived by three sons, Cleven Ray Sanders and wife Kim of Robinson, Neill Eugene Sanders of Robinson, Charles David Sanders of Robinson; daughter Molynda Faye Sanders Kennemore of Robinson; seven grandchildren, Cleven Ray Sanders II, Colton Gene Sanders, Clayton Dude Sanders, Brandon Lee Sanders, David Sanders Kennemore, Jeffrey Steven Kennemore and Stormy Lynn Sanders all of Robinson; three brothers Wade Sanders and June Sanders of Groesbeck, Charles Sanders of Highlands; two sisters Louise Collins of Teague, Joan Ferguson of Groesbeck; Special Nephew Robert Lee Sanders of Robinson.
Pallbearers were Robert Sanders, Ray Sanders II, Colt Sanders, Dude Sanders, David Kennemore, Jeff Kennemore, Brandon Sanders, Stormy Sanders.
Memorial Services Held Feb. 11 for Mary S. Williams
Mary Stewart Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother and great - grandmother died in Houston, Texas on February 8, 2008. She was a lady of great humor, charm and opinion. Wherever Mary went, she made friends instantly. All her family and the many friends will miss her smiling face and the sparkle in her eyes.
Mary Florence Stewart and her twin sister, Sue, were born on December 23, 1912 in Groesbeck, Texas.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Williams, Jr., her daughter, Marjorie Sue Williams, her son, Gary Williams and her grandaughters, Denise Williams and Robin Williams.
Mary is survived by her sister, Margaret Coe of Groesbeck, sons Marcus Williams and his wife Juanda of San Antonio; son Stanley Williams and wife Diane of Houston; and son Michael Williams of Houston. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Venita Williams, Sally Stapp, Allen Williams, Jay Williams, Dawn Trozzo, Mark Williams, Tammy Walker, Matt Williams, Jason Spann, Vanessa Wood, Dru Williams and Angie Williams and 28 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by Gwen Williams Maroney; special friends, Leonard, Edita, Candi and Courtney Thompson and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mary married J.T. Williams, Jr., on August 3, 1929 in Groesbeck,. They moved to Dallas in 1939 when J.T. began working in the highway construction business. Mary worked at the Chester Clinic as a dietician. They lived in Dallas until 1969 when they moved to DeSoto, Texas. J.T. passed away in 1971.
In 1980, Mary moved back to Groesbeck; back to her roots and raising cattle, planting gardens and keeping a beautiful yard. She was glad to be in her hometown with many of her brothers and sisters. Mary worked for the Groesbeck Independent School District. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church - and gave the church a new organ in 1985 which they still use today.
Mary moved to Houston in 2003 to be with her son Gary during his illness. She moved into The Terrace, a senior independent living community - which was a big move for her, having lived in her own home for over 70 years. Mary was an active member of the Terrace church, Bible study and physical training - even being featured on Fox News for her demonstration of Senior Tae-bo at the age of 91.
A memorial service was held on Monday, February 11, 2008 in the Deacon’s Parlor of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, Houston, Texas at 9 a.m. Burial services were held at Laurel Land Cemetery, 6000 South R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas
