Graveside Services Held August 17 for Dorothy E. Beck
Dorothy Elizabeth Beck, 78, of Groesbeck passed away Monday August 13, 2007 at Groesbeck LTC.
Graveside services were conducted on Friday, August 17, in the Mexia City Cemetery with Bro. Richard Williams officiating.
Mrs. Beck was born March 20, 1929 in Oletha to Wiley and Cevilla (Roark) Avant, Sr. She married Ednie Beck August 16, 1947. She was a retired cook/waitress. She was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include four daughters: Rose Mary Pelton of Groesbeck, Betty Ann LaFoy of Mexia, Becky Renee' Hawkins of Groesbeck, Eddie Elizabeth Beck (Honey) of Kosse; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; adopted son Allen Sweat of Houston; sister Chresteen Avant Uloth of Groesbeck; three brothers: Wiley Avant, Jr. and wife Hurley of Hawaii, James Avant and wife Tot of Temple, Bill Avant and wife Phyllis of Groesbeck.
Mrs. Beck was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ednie Beck.

Kim Cox Hicks Funeral Services Held August 18
Kim Cox Hicks, 40, of Teague passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 18 at the First Baptist Church North Teague. Rev. Larry Rose, pastor officiated with interment in the Sessions Cemetery in Kirvin.
Ms. Hicks has lived in Dallas and Houston and was employed as a Certified Nurses Aide.
She is survived by her daughter Charity Cox, of Houston; sisters: Tammy Spates and Tonya Busby of Teague; step-father, James (Pat) Stephen of Teague.
Moore's Angelic Funeral of Teague was in charge of arrangements.
Ruth E. Guenther Funeral Services Held August 17
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Guenther, 85, were held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at Lake Limestone Baptist Church. Brother Johnny Layton officiated with interment at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Ms. Guenther passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the Sheridan Nursing Home in College Station.
Mrs. Guenther was a charter member of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church. She loved sewing and quilting for her family. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes. She lived in South Texas in the valley for many years until the mid-1980's when she moved to the Seale-Round Prairie Community.
She is survived by her two sons: Gary Francis Guenther of Walnut, Ill. and Garland Guenther and wife Judy of Houston; four daughters: Elaine Newsome and husband Jim of Palestine, Carole Hotcaveg and husband Ken of Valdosta, GA., Susie Mathews and husband Joe of Weslaco, Barbara J. Moore of Seale; six grandsons: Gary Edward Guenther and wife Stephanie of Walnut, Ill., Wes Gaines and wife Mary of Mesquite, Michael Hotcaveg and wife Cheryl of Athens, GA., Kevin Andrew Guenther of Houston, David Russell Moore and Richard Allen Moore of Seale; five granddaughters: Becky Baker of Palestine, Margie McDonald and husband Andy of Stuart, FL., Jennifer and Julie Mathews of Austin and Katherine Leigh Guenther of Houston; twelve great-grandchildren: Allison, Ashley and Allen Guenther, Ricky Baker, Sara, Barbara, Emily and Hanna Gaines, Michael Hotcaveg, Jr., Mary Catherine Hotcaveg and Lydia and Morgan McDonald.

Clinton Rhodes Funeral Services Held July 26
Clinton "Dusty" Rhodes, 83, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 26 in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Interment was in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.
Clinton loved his family; loved to fish, hunt, play dominoes and spades and visit with his friends. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2414 Hitson Lane, Fort Worth, TX 75112 where Clinton was a charter member.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Johnnie Eloise Rhodes; son, John Richard Rhodes and wife, Jane; daughters: Sherry Eileen Guice and husband, David, and Donna Sue Baird and husband, Ross; grandchildren: Tracy Nicole Price, John Andrew Rhodes, Clinton Ross Baird and April Michelle Baird; and great-grandchildren: Austin Andrew Price, Ava Grace Price, Presli Nicole Rhodes and Jersi Kate Rhodes.
Graveside Services Held on Aug. 20 for Carl Maurice Harper
Carl Maurice Harper of Kosse passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck.
Graveside services were conducted on Monday, August 20 at the Kosse City Cemetery with Bro. Charles Boren officiating.
Mr. Harper was born September 26, 1926 to Ben Harper and Lela Mae (Pringle) Harper in Kosse. On July 2, 1960 Mr. Harper married his best friend, Martha Anne Harper. He served many years as the water department supervisor for the City of Kosse.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Harper; his mother Lela Harper; his spouse, Martha Ann Harper and daughter Hilda Faye Parker.
His survivors include his two daughters Carla Jo (Harper) Schmidt of Angleton and Elizabeth Harper of Austin; son-in-law Eric Schmidt of Angleton; and three grandchildren Clarissa Ulcak, Duncan Campbell and Bailey Campbell all of Austin.
Groesbeck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial Services Held Wednesday for Altha Hammond Truitt
Memorial services for Mrs. Altha Hammond Truitt, 81, of Lake Limestone were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Lake Limestone Baptist Church (just off FM 937 on the Sterling Robertson dam road). The Reverend Johnny Layton officiated.
Mrs. Truitt was born May 7, 1926 in Curry, Texas to Crit and Allie C. Jackson Hammond. She had worked in property management as a secretary. She had also worked for several accounting firms and the VA Hospital system. She was an active member of the Lake Limestone Baptist Church.
Mrs. Truitt is survived by her husband, Hillry L. (Shorty) Truitt of Lake Limestone; sons: Bradley Truitt and wife Linda M. Truitt of Groesbeck, Gregory Truitt of Austin; grandchildren: Robert Truitt of Conroe, Allie Sugg of Conroe, Clifford Truitt of Groesbeck, Samual, Ross and Max Truitt, all of Austin; step-granddaughter, Christina Baker of Florida and 5 great-grandchildren.
