- Stevan K. Stone Funeral Services Held on July 19
Stevan Kyle Stone of Groesbeck passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 as the result of heart problems related to renal carcinoma.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 20, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Glenn Easterly and Brother Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed at Criswell Cemetery.
Stevan was born to Billy Kyle and Alta Stone on July 15, 1952 in Groesbeck. He was employed at M&M Farm Supply as a fertilizer operator. He served in the National Guard Paratroop Division. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Janet Dick on February 21, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Charles and Shirley Stone and A.N. (Buddy) Beaver and a brother, John Alan, who died as a toddler.
Survivors include his wife Janet Stone and her son Logan of Groesbeck; his two sons, Cody Stone of Fairfield and Kyle Stone and wife Melanie of College Station; granddaughter Haley Stone of Fairfield; parents Billy Kyle and Alta Stone of Groesbeck; three sisters Becky Wilson and husband Mike, Karen Wietzikoski and husband Kenneth, Ellen Stewart, all of Groesbeck; brother Kevin Stone and wife Lesa of Groesbeck; grandmother Lorene Beaver of Groesbeck. There is a large, loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Leo McGilvray, Mason Masters, Joe Towers, Jimmy Goodrich, Kenneth Ellis, Stanley LeNoir.

Minnie Lee Forge Funeral Services Held July 21
Mrs. Minnie Lee "Bitty" Hollie Forge passed away Monday, July 16, 2007 in Providence Hospital in Waco. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21 in The Antioch-Asia Primitive Baptist Church in Teague with Rev. Cleo High and Rev. Randell Forge officiating. Interment followed in the Asia Cemetery in Teague.
She is survived by sons: James Hollie of Richardson, Rev. Randell Forge and wife, Betty of Groesbeck; daughters: Betty Levels and husband Charlie Ray of Teague, Iantha Winn of Mexia, O'Nell Brown and husband Billy of Mexia; brother, Algin J. Mims of Houston; sister, Charlotte Carr of Mexia; uncle Emery Ross of Teague; 22 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Moore's Angelic Funeral Home of Teague was in charge of arrangements.

Frank D. Pollard Funeral Services Held July 23
Frank Dewayne Pollard, 21, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Parkview Regional Hospital emergency. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 23 in the First Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Cleo High and Rev. Randell Forge officiating. Interment was in the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian, Texas.
Frank, a Mexia High School graduate was an Associate at the Mexia Brookshire Store. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mexia.
Survivors include his mother Denise Pollard and Tommy of Mexia; father, Frank Pollard, Sr. and Robbie of McGregor; brothers: Robert (Bobby) Pollard and Jared (Mikey) Pollard of Mexia; sisters: Latricia Pollard of Arkansas and Monica Dishman of Lampasas; grandmother, Sandra Eldridge and great-grandmother, Marian Eldridge, of Mexia; aunts: Glenda Carter and Bill of Mexia, Alberta Carter of Dallas, Jackie Pollard of Burleson; uncles: Bobby Pollard and Vivian, Tony Pollard, Tracy Pollard and Laurie and Clyde Pollard, all of Meridian.

Clarence McVay, Jr. Funeral Services Held July 23
Clarence "J.R." Albert McVay, Jr. of Groesbeck passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 in Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 23 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hoxworth officiating. Burial followed in the Thornton Cemetery.
Mr. McVay was born on January 16, 1963 to Clarence Albert McVay, Sr. and wife, Margie (Riley) McVay in Belle Chasse, LA. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Anna McVay; stepsons, William Wedgman of Thornton and Henry Wedgman of Groesbeck; his mother, Margie (Riley) McVay of Jefferson, Texas; sister, Linda Juraszek of Marrero, LA; brothers: Edward McVay of Hallsville, LA, Carl McVay of Seattle, WA, David McVay of Waxahachie, Ronnie McVay, Sr. of Groesbeck and Samuel McVay of Talco, Texas; granddaughter, Faith Nicholason of Groesbeck; grandsons, Brandon Wedgman of Dallas and Devon Wedgman of Groesbeck, along with several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Edward Earl McVay, Jr., Rickey Lee McVay, Ronnie McVay, Jr., Richard McVay, Trent Lenamond, Josh Lenamond, Colin Lenamond and Clint Winstead.

Mary Kate Rasco Funeral Services Held July 23
Mary Kate Howell Rasco of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 24 at Church of Christ in Groesbeck with Brother Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed at Cobb Cemetery.
Mrs. Rasco was born April 13, 1923 in Groesbeck to James Emmett Howell and Katie Pearl (Currey) Howell. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1941. On June 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Grady B. Rasco.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Mary Deane (Rasco) Johnson.
Survivors include sons Bill Rasco and wife, Ging of Hewitt, George Rasco and wife, Terri of Bremond, John Rasco and wife, Gay of Groesbeck; daughters, Katy Kemmerling and husband, Larry of Lake Jackson, Lee Ann McDaniel and husband, Johnny of Lake Jackson; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Roland Slaughter, Ken Neyland, Joe Durham, John Billingsley, Lew Stewart and Mike Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Arlan Hudson and David McLelland.

Allie Rose Cook infant daughter of Krista and Damon Cook of Kosse passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco.
Private graveside services were conducted on Sunday, July 22 in the Mustang Cemetery with Brother Charles Boren of Kosse Church of Christ officiating.
Allie was born July 19, 2007 to Krista Lynn (Zvec) and Damon Eugene Cook of Kosse.
She is survived by her parents; sister, Kaylee Cook and brother Wesley Cook, all of Kosse.

Ralph D. Bullock Funeral Services Held July 21
Ralph Douglas Bullock of Kosse passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Windsor Healthcare in Groesbeck. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 21 in the First Baptist Church of Kosse with Rev. Tom Vance officiating.
Mr. Bullock was born to Harry Holtzman and Cora Dell (Hunt) Bullock on August 12, 1918 in Kosse. He served in WWII from Nov. 13, 1941 until Sept. 5, 1945 in the USAF stationed in Italy. He was a controller for Pitt Industries of Carrollton before his retirement on July 1, 1983. He has a BBA degree and attended Baylor University 1995-1998. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kosse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Leah (Dyer) Bullock of Kosse; two sons, Douglas Lynn Bullock of Alton, Illinois and David Mark Bullock of Highland Village, Texas; daughter-in-law, Donna Bullock of Highland Village; grandson Matthew David Bullock of Highland Village; granddaughter Lauren Alisha Bullock of Highland Village.

Graveside Services Held July 22 for Virginia L. Little
Virginia Lorraine (Roen) Little was born September 7, 1927 in Muskegon, MI to Burdette and Caroline (Kraska) Roen and passed away in Conroe July 18, 2007. She grew up in Muskegon where she met and married Joe Lee Little and they moved to Groesbeck in 1950. In 1957 they moved to Huntsville where he began working for the Texas Prison System and later moved to Sugar Land. She later returned to Huntsville. She adored her family and cherished every moment with them. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed working on her needlepoint and crafts and in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Emmett Roen.
She is survived by daughters: Terry Little, Kathy Stanford and husband Lonnie, Debby Sander and husband Bob; son Joe Little, Jr. and wife Julie; grandchildren: Lori McBee, Sheri Pegoda, Keri Lummus, Lonnie Stanford, Jr., Bobby Sander, Jason Sander, Kyle Little, Kristen Little, and Kelsey Little; great-grandchildren: Stephen, Daniel, Alison, Weston, Bryce, Briley, Autumn, Jaden, Ella, Jason and Jorden; sister, Audrey Vanderwier; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Graveside services were conducted on Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Sugar Land.

Joy Nell Thomas Funeral Services Held July 23
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy N. Thomas, 71, were held on Monday, July 23, 2007 at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett with Bro. Neil Bond officiating. Interment followed at Little Flock Cemetery near Jewett.
Mrs. Thomas passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at her residence in Jewett. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Rick Thomas of Jewett; grandson, John Joseph (J.J.) Thomas of Jewett; two sisters, Linda Black and Karen Shamblin of Mexia; great-granddaughter, Kaede Thomas of Centerville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Thomas.

Charles L. Weems Funeral Services Held on July 24
Mr. Charles Leonard Weems, 62, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 24 at Patterson's Canton Hill Chapel. Additional services were held at Groesbeck Funeral Home in Groesbeck with interment to follow at Fort Parker Memorial Park.
Chuck was a graduate of the University of Wyoming. He was retired from IBM after 25 years of service and was most recently employed in Information Technology at Rollins Inc. He loved family, travel and life.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Elaine Weems Brooks of Marietta; son, Michael Weems of Santa Barbara, CA; son-in-law, Michael Brooks of Marietta; stepdaughter, Regan Rumney Thornburg of Arlington, VA; son-in-law, Matthew Austin Thornburg, of Arlington, VA; mother-in-law, Marie Lofland of Largo, FL; grandchildren: Anna, Patrick, Kate, and Mackenna; aunts, uncles and cousins Leonard Weems, Emma Jean Weems, Carolyn Ray, Pam Queen, Jeannie Buchanan of Dallas, Lynn Weems of Houston, Betty Lang of Duncanville, and a host of other cherished relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Louise Weems.

Irene R. Baker Funeral Services Held July 21
Irene R. Baker, 90 passed away on the morning of July 18, 2007. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 21 at the Temple Baptist Church in Mexia with Reverend Michael Vestal officiating. Private graveside services were held in the Sardis cemetery in Leon County.
Irene was born January 2, 1917. She was retired from the Mexia State School and had resided at Park Manor Nursing Home in DeSoto for the past three years.
She was a much loved mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by daughters: Patsy Baker Brown, Nelda R. Baker; son, Joe E. Baker; grandchildren: Jeff Brown, Aimee Brown, Allison Baker and Tracy Baker; stepdaughter, Peggy Humphries and her children, Lee, Lisa and Trey.

Graveside Services Held July 21 for Norris L. Dabney
Mr. Norris Loyed Dabney, Sr., 82, of Mexia, passed away Wednesday July 18, 2007 in Mexia. Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, July 21 in the New Hope cemetery in Limestone County with Kenneth Hutchison officiating.
Mr. Dabney was born December 30, 1924 in Dawson to William D. and Alma Mamie Shanault Dabney. He was a Baptist and was retired from road construction. He was a lifelong resident of Mexia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Nell Foley Dabney in 1988; brothers and sisters: Oakell David Dabney, Ira Lee Dabney, Lera Mae Boykin, Joyce Johnson and Pauline Nix.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Norris and Dixie Dabney, Robin and Kim Dabney, Johnny and Ann Dabney, Terry and Becky Dabney and Wesley and Rosa Dabney, all of Mexia; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers James Eugene Dabney of Houston and Rule D. (Jack) Dabney of Italy and by sisters Betty Funderburk Nipp of Mexia, Georgia Carroll of Mexia and Helen Worthey of San Antonio.

Mary E. Ragan Funeral Services Held July 25
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Ragan, 85, of Coolidge passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007 at her residence in Coolidge. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge with The Reverend Judy VanHemert officiating. Interment followed in the Coolidge cemetery beside her husband, J.T. Ragan.
Mrs. Ragan was born October 27, 1921 in Austin to Morris Evelyn and Stella Louesta Belk Burnett.
Mrs. Ragan was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Ragan who died 21 years ago. She met Mr. Ragan in Dallas and they were married there before moving to Coolidge where they lived for over 50 years. They owned and operated the Independent Gin Co., the only gin in Coolidge.
Mrs. Ragan also worked for the Peeples Telephone Company in Coolidge for many years. She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge where she served as Treasurer.
Mrs. Ragan is survived by her sister, Estelle B. Quiroza of Salado, and by her nephews, Don King Robinson of Austin and John Dwayne Robinson of Vasalt, Colorado. She is further survived by her beloved cousins, Florine Powers of Marshall, Apple Johnson of Salado and Billie Adair Montour of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Pallbearers were Bill Baily, Wyatt Wilson, Randall Jacobs, W.H. "Bill" Lowry, Allen Johnston and Kenneth Arnold.
