Funeral Services Held March 15 for Joe Lincecum
Joe Lincecum, 61, of Lake Limestone, died at his residence on March 11, 2008. Funeral services were held Sat., March 15, at 10 a.m. in the Seale-Round Prairie Community Building, with interment following in the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Joe was born May 28, 1946, to Jack and Mildred Lincecum, in at Round Prairie.
He attended the public schools of Marquez and graduated from Leon High School in 1964. He then entered Texas A&M University and completed a degree in Range Science in 1968. After serving in the US Army for two years (including 14 months in Vietnam), he married Patricia Nettles of Old Union on May 15, 1971, in Groesbeck. In 1971 he began a career with the Farmers Home Administration that lasted until his retirement in 1995. Pat worked for Texas Rehabilitation Commission, and they lived in Jacksonville, Garland, Richland Springs, and Lumberton. Their daughter Michelle Leigh was born January 2, 1974.
In retirement Joe and Pat were happy to return to their home communities, and each of them helped their parents through difficult health issues. They became actively involved in the social life of the Lake Limestone communities, serving on committees to oversee maintenance and raise funds for the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery and Community Building and also the Oletha Community Center.
Joe loved the land and liked to make things grow, whether it be a garden, flowers, trees and grass, or cattle. He had a strong sense of justice and always supported the underdog, yet he never sought recognition. His sense of family and community values was also strong, and he will be missed by all members of his extended family as well as many friends in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Pat, of Lake Limestone, and daughter Michelle of Houston; brother Jerry and wife Peggy Redshaw of Sherman; sisters Mary Avila and husband Alex of Fulshear, Kay Lindemann and husband Jeff of Dallas, Margie Burdick and husband Randy of Duncanville; brother-in-law Perry Nettles and wife Karen of Lake Limestone, and sisters-in-laws Martha Martin and husband Red of Oletha, Jean Nettles of Lake Limestone, Jo Boyd and husband Stanley of Lake Limestone, and Billie Ticknor and husband Tommy of Old Union; and special nephew Kevin Sherrod, whom Joe has guided and assisted through many troubling times.
Joe will also be mourned by numerous cousins and many nephew and nieces, all of whom treasured their frequent visits with “Uncle Joe and Aunt Pat.” The many long-time friends of Joe and Pat will also miss his wry humor and generous spirit.

Funeral Services Held March 18 for Barbara Pelz Little
Barbara Pelz Little, 74 of Groesbeck, Texas passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Groesbeck.
Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M., in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed at Faulkenberry Cemetery.
Barbara was born April 7, 1933 in Graham, Texas, the daughter of the late Gus and Bernice Pelz. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School. On April 2, 1953 she married Dwain Little in Dallas. He preceded her in death March 23, 1999. For thirty- five years she was employed by the Farmers State Bank of Groesbeck and retired on February 14, 1997. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck. During her life she took great pleasure in sewing.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, August L. Pelz, Sr.
Survivors include daughter Tina Harris and husband Jimmy of South Boston, VA, Judy Lewis and husband Charles and Jill Basden and husband Jim both of Groesbeck, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ken Neyland, Jimmy Harris, Charles Lewis, Jim Basden, Terry Pelz, Lee Pelz, Barry Harris and Dennis Kristensen. Honorary Pallbearers were Gerald Gibson, Rand Bates and B. K. Stone.

Graveside Services Held Feb. 28 for Baby Gavin Allred
Graveside services for Baby Gavin Kane Allred were held on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery near Carthage with Brother Freddy Mason officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Baby Gavin was born and passed away on Saturday night, February 23, 2008 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, Texas. Baby Gavin was a "little fighter" and during the short amount of time he was here, he touched many lives.
Baby Gavin was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Doyle Adams, Sylvan and Delta Lee Harris, Ralph Williamson, and Ralph and Edna Allred; and a sibling on April 27, 2007
Baby Gavin is survived by his parents, Daniel and Michelle Harris Allred of the Fair Play Community; maternal grandparents, Ronny and Linda Harris of the Fair Play Community; paternal grandparents, Warren and Kathy Allred of Groesbeck; great-grandparents, Betty Adams of Beckville, Mary Williams of Beckville; and two uncles, Michael Harris and wife Jennifer of the Fair Play Community and Colt Allred of Groesbeck.

Funeral Services Held March 19 for Peggy Gauntt
Funeral services for Mrs. Loyd (Peggy) Gauntt of Mexia, were held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in the Blair Stubbs Chapel with Reverend Curtis Holland officiating. Interment followed in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Peggy passed from this earth during the early morning hours on Monday, March 17, 2008.
Peggy Joyce Bell Gauntt was born on February 24, 1933, in Coleman, Texas to Joe Wren Bell and Ethel Mae Warren Bell. She was raised at the family farm in Talpa, Texas. Peggy later moved with her family to Fort Worth. These family members included her parents, two older sisters, Billie Bell Atnip and Norman Bell Jasperson, and one younger brother, Kenneth Bell, all deceased.
On December 29, 1950, Peggy married Loyd Carol Gauntt. His employment within the automobile industry, specifically General Motors, allowed them to travel to several cities and out of state. Their final opportunity brought them to Mexia and Loyd opened Gauntt Pontiac, Buick, and GMC in which Peggy also worked. After several years, Peggy began a rewarding career at the Mexia State School. She began working as a Direct Care Staff member and after numerous positions which touched both clients and staff; she retired from the Staff Development Department after 30 plus years. It was apparent that working at Mexia State School was what her life plan had been.
Peggy is survived by three daughters including Delynna Jean Post and husband, Mike, of Burleson, Pat Gamble and husband, Mike of Mexia and Lee Ann Huse, also of Mexia. Grandchildren include Terra Kinard and husband Brad of Garland, Peggy Mannan of Crowley, Michelle Post of Fort Worth, Jordan Huse, Kelsey Huse, and Allison Huse, all of Mexia. Peggy also had one great-grandchild, Shane Post of Burleson.
Pallbearers were Larry McKinney, Billy McKinney, Dean Lyons, Kelly Pitts, Joe Lynn Gauntt and Leldon Gauntt.

Thomas Fielding Hill Funeral Services Held March 13
Thomas Fielding Hill, Jr. of Groesbeck passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco, Texas.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Graveside services were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Restland Cemetery in Dallas with Bro. Tracy Sims officiating.
Mr. Hill was born September 30, 1940 to Thomas Hill, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hollis) Hill in Henderson, Texas. On November 10, 1996 Mr. Hill married, Peggy Murray. Mr. Hill worked as a chemist at Dow Chemical until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Hill, Sr. and his mother Elizabeth Hill.
His survivors include his wife Peggy Murray Hill; two sons Thomas F. Hill, III of Mexia, Mark Daniel Hill and wife Patty of Texas City; two grandsons Joseph Thomas Hill of Houston, and Thomas Joseph Hill of Upland, CA.; one step daughter Toni Riester-Wood and husband Craig of San Antonio; two step sons Murray Thomas Flanagan of Houston; Timothy A. Flanagan and wife Barbara of North Richland Hills; four step grandsons Adrian Flores, Madison Wood, Hayden Wood and Mark Flanagan; two step granddaughters Avery Reister and Natalie Flanagan.
Pallbearers were Thomas Hill, III, Daniel Hill, Tommy Flanagan, Tim Flanagan, Joseph Hill and Ken Timblin.

James Roy Pinkerton Funeral Services Held March 19
James Roy Pinkerton, Jr., 47 of Denton passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1960 in Groesbeck, Texas to James Roy Pinkerton, Sr. and Edith Pinkerton. He graduated from Groesbeck High School. He married Cathy Ellen Williams in Denton on November 5, 1994. He was a member of Grace Temple Baptist church, coach for the Denton Soccer League, volunteered with the Denton I.S.D. and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 19 in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Pinkerton of Denton; daughter, Christy and husband Nick Watkins of Murphy; son, Gunner Dylan Pinkerton of Denton; sister, Patty Freeman of Australia; nephew, Jimmy Smith of Australia; mother-in-law, Audrey Braswell; sister-in-law, Debbie Petty; nieces, Casey and Lauren Petty; brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, Stuart and Sheri Braswell; nephew, Michael Braswell; niece, Erin Braswell, Ashley and husband Matt Doyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Braswell.
Funeral Services Held March 18 for Wilburn “Pete” Rhodes
Pete Rhodes of Jewett passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Windsor Manor Nursing Home in Groesbeck.
Funeral services were conducted 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Little Flock Baptist Church with Bill Sutton and Tad Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Little Flock Cemetery.
Pete was born April 4, 1923 in Jewett, Texas to Earnest W. and Eula Marie (Sparks) Rhodes. He graduated from Jewett High School in 1940 and served in the U. S. Marines from 1941-1946. He married Helen on January 25, 1947 in Houston. After his retirement from Union Carbide (now Dow Chemical) he moved back home to ranch. He was a Mason and member of VFW of Jewett.
Pete is survived by wife Helen of Jewett, two sisters Dorris Willis and Billie Slemp and husband Pete all Jewett; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law of the Houston area; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Joe Dwayne Hancock, Walter Stokley, Gordon Richter, Eugene Stone, Don Gresham, Tommy Crane.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Sherrill, Clayton Morton, Pete Slemp, Ronald Crane, Randall Crane, Donnie Gresham.

Graveside Services Held March 14 for Lloyd C. Szanto
Lloyd C. Szanto of Jewett, TX passed away at Providence Hospital inWaco on Tuesday March 11, 2008.
Lloyd was born January 25, 1941 in Speegleville, TX to Lloyd C. Szanto, Sr. and Wilma (Ferguson) Szanto.
Graveside services were conducted on Friday March 14, 2008 at the Old Union Cemetery with Bro. Richard Williams officiating.
Mr. Szanto is survived by his wife Paula Nell (Carr) Szanto; son, David Szanto of Union Valley, TX and daughter Traci Kopp and son in law John Kopp of Cedar Park, TX; grandon Davis Szanto of Dallas, TX; grandaughters, Taylor Kopp and Jenna Kopp of Cedar Park, TX.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his father and mother, Lloyd C. Szanto, Sr. and Wilma (Ferguson) Szanto.

Funeral Services Held March 12 for Troy Sneed West
Funeral services for Troy Sneed West, 90 of Mexia weer held Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Blair – Stubbs Chapel. Neil Bond officiated with interment to follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Mr. West was born on September 2, 1917 in Teague to Jim and Ida Chumney West, and passed away on March 10, 2008 in a local nursing home. He had lived all of his life in this area, was a farmer, a butcher, school bus driver for Shiloh Schools in the mid 1940s to mid 1960s. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bessie Ruth Sunday West and siblings, Guy West, Willie West, Lester West, Sam West, John West, Fannie Cain Bertie Beene and Susie Kerzee.
He is survived by nieces and nephews including Eva Ray and Thelma Bolton of Mexia and Duane West of Kirvin.
Pallbearers were Jimmy VanWinkle, Duane West, Jack Beene, Bennie Posey, Dan Beene and Bill Beene.
