Goats blaze at District track meet This is the Groesbeck Goat JV 400 m relay team who won 1st place with the time of 45.71. The boys are Kris Vogel, Jabarr Homes, Jimmy Jefferson, and Tony Taveras. By Donte Asberry - The Groesbeck junior varsity and varsity boys competed at the district 19-3A track meet last Wednesday and Thursday in Groesbeck. Westwood placed first in the junior varsity division with 184.5 points followed by Mexia 159, Teague 88.5, Groesbeck 82, Madisonville 64, Crockett 29, Fairfield 2, Trinity 0. Individual results for the junior varsity are as follows: Long Jump - B. Feeney, J. Edwards) 3:53.21 Four Qualify for Regional JV District Champs Four Lady Goats earned a trip to the regional track meet to be held in Humble, Texas, on the 25th and 26th of April. Ashlee Baker earned her second trip to Regional in the Pole Vault by winning district with a jump of 9' 3". Corey Messer was second in the pole vault and will also be going to regional. Lauren Keaton and Ashley Carver, two outstanding freshmen, will compete for the Lady Goats in the Discus and the 400 meters. Both earned their place by placing second in their respective events. The remainder of the competitors and their placings are as follows: Ashley Carver - 3rd, 800 meter; Lauren Keaton, 5th, shot; Amanda Fitte, 5th, 300 hurdles; Lindsay Wilson, 6th, high jump; Kayla Masters, 6th in the triple jump and the long jump; Maria Roman, 5th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200 meters. The mile relay team of Kayla Masters, Kim Brown, Amanda Fitte, and Ashley Carver placed 4th. The 800 meter relay team of Kayla Masters, Dominique Jones, Jaclyn Gilliland and Kim Brown placed 6th. The regional qualifiers will compete in Regional Qualifiers Meet on Wednesday in McGregor. The Junior Varsity girls closed out the year with a District Championship. There were 8 teams participating. The JV girls dominated the field events placing in every field event except 2 where they had no competitors.
