FSB Travelers Enjoyed The Gift of Christmas at Prestonwood Baptist Church

By Jerri McBay

Members and friends of FSB Travelers traveled to Plano for an enjoyable day on Saturday, December 9. The trip began with the travelers drawing a number from a bowl. Those numbers were then used to distribute envelopes filled with a candy cane and other surprises. The last drawing was for the “Grand Prize” of a $20 bill. The activity allowed everyone to be a “winner” as everyone received an envelope.

Lunch on this day was at the Saltgrass Steakhouse in Plano. Once again, the restaurant staff provided delicious food with great service.

After lunch the bus delivered the travelers to Prestonwood Baptist Church for the 2017 performance of “The Gift of Christmas.” This trip marked the 9th time FSB Travelers has attended the Christmas program at Prestonwood. While most of them have been a little different from the one before, they have all been wonderful portrayals of not only the Christmas spirit, but also the reason for the Christmas season.

This year the program began with a visit to the North Pole. Santa, Mrs. Claus, many elves, Frosty, Rudolph, rappelling reindeer, Raggedy Ann dolls, and rappelling army soldiers were all there.

The Symphony of Christmas began with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary and telling of the birth of Jesus. A live nativity presentation included flying angels, shepherds with sheep, 3 kings traveling with their gifts, their wives, and their dancers. One king traveled on a camel while the other two were transported by litters carried by their servants.

The program included participation by over 1,000 individuals. There were over 500 people in the adult choir. The children’s choir was made up of 150 members. There were 50 members in the orchestra.

Many of the travelers are already looking forward to returning for the 2018 production of “The Gift of Christmas.”
