Free Income Tax service for all offered

Those who would like help in filing their income tax forms will be happy to know that this service is being offered at no cost to area residents in Fairfield every Thursday through April 12.

For the fourth year, Tax Aide will provide free federal income tax preparation services to area residents of all ages. The times are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Mount St. in Fairfield.

Interested residents should bring their tax paperwork (W-2s, 1099’s for income, self-employment details, deduction details), a picture ID both for the taxpayer and their spouse, Social Security cards for all family members, and a 2016 return if available. The 2017 returns will be prepared while the resident waits and e-filed each evening.

Tax Aide volunteers are sponsored by AARP, and are trained and certified through IRS-sponsored programs. Tax Aide now has over 35,000 volunteers at 5,000 sites nationwide who assist in preparing tax returns. For more information, go to
