Odis W. Campbell - December 2, 1938-February 4, 2018
Odis W. Campbell, 79, passed away on Sunday morning, February 4, 2018, at his home in Houston, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Services were held Wednesday, February 7, at Littlepage Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Ingram officiating. Burial followed at the Kirk Cemetery.
Born on December 2, 1938, Odis grew up in Thornton, where he and his sister were raised by their grandmother, Mary Magdaline Campbell. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. Odis lived in Thornton until he graduated in 1957 from Thornton High School, where he was a star football player for the Thornton Tigers.
In 1957 Odis married Elaine Robertson at the First Baptist Church of Ben Hur, Texas. They lived in Groesbeck until 1961 when he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, where Elaine joined him. Upon returning to Texas, Odis took his family to Houston, where he worked for Quality Electric Steel Castings for 30 years. After retiring, Odis and Elaine loved to travel to antique auctions. He loved playing 42 on Wednesdays at the First Baptist Church of Mart.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Campbell of Houston; his son, Craig W. Campbell of Houston; his sister, Jimmie Marie Raybon of Dallas; and a nephew and nieces.
Pallbearers at the funeral service were Lance Kattner, Dudley Raybon, John Schlemmer, Robert Schlemmer, Randy Kattner, and Brent Robertson.
