Lady Goats Secure Playoff Spot

In the new norm that has become the hallmark of Groesbeck Lady Goat basketball games-i.e. blowout wins over District 20-3A opponents, Coach Lisa O’Kelley’s team had perhaps its biggest of the streak of five straight wins at home, Friday, March 7 th . They blasted the Teague Lady Lions 56-38. Teague is in second place in the district and the loss didn’t knock it down to third place. But for the Lady Goats, it avenged an earlier 11 point loss in Teague and most importantly, it secured them finishing in fourth place and meeting the first place team from District 19-3A in a bidistrict match early next week.

Goats playoff chances end in Teague upset

With their chances on making the playoffs depending on their winning their last three District 20-3A games and a couple of other teams losing some key games, the Groesbeck Goats saw those chances evaporate on their own gym floor Friday, Feb. 7, when the Teague Lions snapped their 18- game losing streak with a 70-36 pounding of the hapless Goats 70- 36. It was Teague’s second win of the season and its first in district. Groesbeck dropped to a 9-18 season record and 3-7 in district.
