DPS officers stand in tribute beside a memorial dedicated to Texas State Trooper Chad Walker, honoring his sacrifice in the line of duty.
Memorial Unveiled for Fallen Texas DPS Trooper Chad Walker
More than 50 family members, friends and law enforcement officers gathered at the Limestone County Courthouse on Monday, March 31, to honor the life and sacrifice of Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Chad Walker with the unveiling of a permanent memorial.
The granite marker was placed on the courthouse lawn’s west side near the World War I memorial. Its inscription reads: “We the people of the state of Texas acknowledge and thank Trooper Chad Walker for the great sacrifice he made to keep the public safe. His efforts will stand the test of time. May God bless his soul. March 31, 2025.”
A Texas DPS representative spoke at the ceremony, praising Walker’s dedication to public safety. Following the remarks, family members and close friends placed blue roses at the base of the memorial in a solemn tribute.
Walker was killed in the line of duty in 2021 after being ambushed during a traffic stop in Limestone County. His death prompted an outpouring of support from across the state, with fellow officers and community members hailing him as a hero.
The memorial ensures Walker’s legacy will endure as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily.
