6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. — Annual LMC Christmas Lighting Ceremony. There will be refreshments, hot cocoa, performances by the StudioMove! Dance Company and Twirlers, Christmas craft tables, and opportunities for pictures with Santa or to write a letter to Santa.
Thursday- Saturday, Dec. 7-10
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Christmas at the Fort at Old Fort Parker Historic Site. This event is open to the public. School Days will be the 7-8. The competition will start on Saturday morning. Events include Rifle, Archery, Hawk, Knife, and Fire Starting. Men, Women, and Youth Aged 14 and Under. Restrooms and showers are available. Traders welcome $35. For more info. Thursday, Dec. 7
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. — Holiday Farmer’s Market, located at the parkette, if weather permits but an indoor location is also available if not, this monthly edition of the farmers market will be holiday-themed and host significantly more vendors than usual.

6 p.m. to 8 p.m. — The GHS Student Council is hosting the 2nd annual Toys 4 Tots Movie Night at the Groesbeck High School Auditorium. Admission is $5 or 1 unopened toy. They will be showing The Polar Express and serving milk and cookies. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas. Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves, and the Wise Men will be making an appearance.

6 p.m. - Thornton Community dinner takes place at the Mary Helen Nance Community Center. They will be serving turkey, ham, dressing, and drinks. Bring a dessert/side dish and enjoy their community dinner.

Friday, Dec. 8

10 a.m.- Food giveaway at Thornton City Hall sponsored by Trinity Full Gospel Fellowship in Thornton and River of Life Family Worship Center, Fairfield Pantry.

2 p.m. to 5 p.m.–— Lakeside Christmas at Fort Parker State Park. Free entry upon donation of a new unwrapped toy. Opportunities to play games, make Christmas ornaments, take advantage of a photo spot by the fire truck, experience Dutch oven cooking with Uncle Mike’s Outdoor Kitchen, and try some sweet treats. You can pick up an entrance permit at park HQ or bring a toy donation and enter for free. The event will take place at the Group Barracks Dining Hall which is located at the end of the road that passes in front of the park residence.

6 p.m.–— The annual Christmas Covered Dish supper at the Oletha Jamboree. This is open to everyone to come and enjoy a delicious meal, some good music, and just plain country fellowship with friends and family. Bring your favorite dish. John Allred and his band will begin the evening of music at 6 p.m. followed by the Baldwin Band and others.
Monday, Dec. 11
10:30 a.m. — Santa is coming to the Groesbeck Public Library! Bring the kids in their pajamas for an extra special Polar Express story time with Christmas crafts and cookies. Kids will take a picture with Santa for their crafting but parents are welcome to take more pictures. Please RSVP through the link on the event page on Facebook.

6 p.m. — The High School Christmas Concert and fundraising dinner will be held at Eng Washington Intermediate School. They will be serving chicken spaghetti or regular spaghetti, salad, green beans, bread, and dessert. Tickets are $10. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. They will also be selling tickets for the stretch auction to benefit the Groesbeck Band.
Tuesday, Dec. 12
11 a.m. — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1191 will hold its annual meeting at Bubba’s BBQ in Ennis, 201 S. I-45. The guest speaker will be Derek Kester, executive director of Compassion Corsicana. 972=878-6225.
Wednesday, Dec. 13
6 p.m. — Christmas on the Bricks in downtown Wortham. Join the Wortham Fire Department for the annual chili supper with Santa. They will also have hot chocolate and treats.

6:15 p.m. — Parent University presentation on bullying and cyberbullying by Joshua Webb & Ernesto Reyes from the Crime Stoppers of Houston at the H.O. Whitehurst Theatre.
Thursday, Dec. 14
6:30 p.m. — Santa will be at the Kosse Community Center. Lots of fun and games and a chance for the kids to meet Santa! Volunteers will be putting together 75 goodie bags with small toys, snacks, candy, drinks, etc. Donations for gender-neutral items are best since they’re not sure how many boys and girls will attend. They will also accept monetary donations to purchase items. Donations can be dropped off at Kosse City Hall. Call 254-375-2212 to volunteer or for more information.
Friday, Dec. 15
3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. — Pictures with Santa at Farmer’s State Bank. You can enjoy refreshments while your picture prints.

5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. — The Mexia Garden Club will hold their annual Outdoor Christmas Lighting Contest. The categories will be both traditional and creative. Contact Patty Manley at 361-227-0698 to suggest homes for consideration.

7:30 p.m. — Palestine Community Theatre will open its Christmas production, Miracle on 34th Street the Play, at 213 W. Crawford in downtown Palestine. The play will run through the weekend with a matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be a complimentary reception on opening night that begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, which are $12 for students ages 4-18 and $17 for adults. They can be purchased in advance at www.PCTboxoffice.com and at the door before each performance.
