American Legion Post 288 Commander Daniel Burkeen presents the Kirby Hyden scholarship for 2020 to MaKenzie Self, a 2020 graduate of Coolidge High School. MaKenzie is studying Biomedical Technology at Texas State Technical College, and is the daughter of David and Ginger Self.
The annual fan drive for homebound seniors of Limestone county wrapped last Thurs., July 2. Billy B’s hosted the event at the cafe’ doors taking final donations of fans and monetary donations towards the cause.
Groesbeck ISD has reopened two campuses to select students for in-person instruction for the first time since mid-March, when statewide closures were mandated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Summer school, which began July 6 and will conclude on July 30, is being conducted with several health and safety precautions in place, and about a quarter of enrolled students are completing the work remotely with learning packets and/or online instruction.
Debbie McKimmey of Cameron won the annual raffle conducted by American Legion Post 288 in Groesbeck. She was presented with her prizes, a Henry Golden Boy Rifle, and Henry branded cap and mug, by Commander Russ Foster. Debbie is the Adjutant for American Legion post 358 in Rockdale, where her husband Jim is Commander.
The Groesbeck Lions Club installed new officers and directors at its meeting on Wednesday, July 1, at Mi Rancho Restaurant. Additionally, several awards were presented.
