A Mexia-based cat-kitten rescue group is offering reduced-price family photos by a professional photographer – including with the family’s pets if desired – as a fundraiser.
Fort Worth newlywed couple David and Kelley Keller found love in a roundabout way. They met 17 years ago when they were both working at a Fort Worth hospital, she an RN and he doing anesthesiology checks; and were truly just friends. They also attended the same church.

Recently, chamber vicepresident Walter Hewitt and chamber president Randy Franklin presented Hailey and Hannah DeFriend with a scholarship in the amount of $750 each. “We are very proud of our community support so that we continue to bless our young people with funds, that they may continue their education,” stated chamber representatives. Thornton Masonic Lodge #486 presented their annual scholarship awards to Hannah DeFriend, Zackary Goodman, and Jaedi Rae Goodman on Thurs. Aug. 13 at the Groesbeck City Park. Each senior received $1000 from the lodge.
