Home of the brave

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer.” This year’s Fourth of July celebrations are a great time to talk about bravery, and how it makes ordinary men and women the best kind of Americans. Sometimes bravery is about standing up for your values and rights, or it might mean risking life and limb to help another human being in need. Either way, it is always inspiring. Here are some of the bravest of the brave we’ve known in our time.
