28.3 grams of meth found during traffic stop last week

A routine traffic stop last week resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine and the arrest of one last week.

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, Officer Cardenas conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of North Ellis Street for expired registration. During the course of that stop, he obtained consent to search the vehicle and located a small amount of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody at which time a larger amount of suspected methamphetamine was discovered.

The total amount of suspected methamphetamine recovered was 28.3 grams.

The driver was ultimately taken to jail and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group One Greater than Four Grams but Less than 200 Grams.

The passenger was transported to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency.
