Central Texas Food Bank to distribute free food to McLennan and Limestone County residents
The Central Texas Food Bank will distribute free food to McLennan and Limestone County residents from 10 to 11 a.m., Feb. 2 and Feb. 4 at various locations via mobile food trucks.
Attendees will receive food boxes containing a variety of fresh and shelf-stable foods, according to a Central Texas Food Bank press release.
It’s designed as a drive-through event, but there will be separate lines for individuals arriving on foot, by bus, or on a bicycle. It’s recommended that those arriving without vehicles bring containers to carry the food, as it'll be boxed and may be difficult to carry.
Two-thirds of the people the CTFB serves said they had to choose between buying food and paying for housing in the past year. Eighty percent said they had to choose between food and medicine, according to the CTFM website.
The mission of the CTFM is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in fighting hunger. The Food Bank has been providing for those in need for forty years and serves nearly 65,000 people a week.
