AUGUST 31 The Famous Meixa LIons Club Pancake Breakfast will be Friday August 31 from 6:30am to 10am at the Mexia Lions Den. $5 a plate. We are taking orders for delivery to businesses in the Mexia area. Or you can come by and dine-in or pick up a plate at 201 N. Paris in Mexia. All money raised goes to support local and international Lions Projects to eliminate blindness.

The Joy of Living Women’s Bible Study starts again in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck on Mondays, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

This year, we begin with a 7-week study of the Book of Esther, before moving into the New Testament to study Acts. This is a wonderful study that will encourage your heart and build your faith.

Joy of Living is a nondenominational Bible study that welcomes all women interested in learning more about God’s Word and sharing Christian fellowship.

SEPTEMBER 11 9/11 SERVICE PLANNED - American Legion Post 288 will host a memorial and prayer service to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attack on this country on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. on the front (north) side of the courthouse. While the details are still being planned, participation is hoped for from firefighters, law enforcement, churches and anyone who would like to share thoughts or feelings what they were doing when they heard the news, or how the event has impacted their lives. Everyone is welcome to observe and/or participate.

The Class of 1953 will be celebrating their 65th reunion on Saturday this year and plan to meet after the parade at the Civic Center for the Homecoming Barbecue luncheon. We will try to have a table for our class and hope everyone will come and enjoy the fellowship and share memories of past School Days!
